That's way over-simplifying it and you know it.
seems like if SEC owned it not even close they would win it more often and have way more than the next closest.

arguement of SEC owned college football in BCS era holds up

I mean the Sun Belt didn't own college baseball when Coastal Carolina won the title. All winning a title means is a conference has one great team, doesn't have any bearing on the rest of the league.

Just the fax:

The whole 2016 list is completely wrong. Others may be too but I know 2016 for sure because my team was runner up and you don’t even have them or the actual winners listed.

Also, 2014 is just a convenient year to start making your point considering 2012 and 2013 were titles won by PAC teams.

No, I was only going to go through 2015, but my alma mater won in 2014 so I tossed in 2014 so Vandy's win was included. Didn't even look at 2012 and 2013.

Also, the point of my post is obviously not who won ... another post covers that. My post was to dig deeper and show that the SEC dominates college baseball by showing how many teams they get to the WS each and every year.

Yep, not sure how that happened as I remember recalling how weird it was when Coastal Carolina won, so I had it at one point. Here is 2016:

2016 - SEC (1) PAC (1) Big12 (3) ACC (1)
Oklahoma State
UC Santa Barbara
Arizona
Miami
TCU
Texas Tech
Coastal Carolina
Florida

The Big12 got slighted by my doing that, and that was a down year in the WS for the SEC. Doesn't help the PAC any.

LOL ... please define historically. You aren't pulling a Michigan and going back to the 1940s or something, are you?

By the way, I don't really give a shit if that is the case. Good on the PAC if so. I was just throwing in some depth of facts in the discussion.

Thanks for taking the time to post those numbers. That what the comprehensive data I was looking for. :thumb:

Got it, so very Michigan-like ... ignore the past 30 years, focus on the 60s, 70s, etc.

All kidding aside, I looked it up. You are correct. The PAC won a most of the NCs in the 70s and 80s. Not sure how many teams were involved, but the PAC won 13 out of 16 titles at one point in the 70s and 80s. Won 1 in the 90s, 2 each in the 00s and 10s.

The run from 1967 - 1981 was impressive.

I think my data is all fucked up. Have to redo that. I know Washington was in the World Series a couple years ago and I don't see them listed. I had it lined up and something happened with some cut and pasting.

Finally, this wiki has all the facts, including conference records, etc. Some really good numbers here.

College World Series - Wikipedia

Check out Texas' numbers. Damn.

There is a category: Most CWS participants by one conference in a year - the SEC dominates that which likely shows the best depth for a conference. On 17 occasions conferences had 3 or more teams get to the World Series. The SEC had 11 of those.

As to the most wins, it's the PAC with 18, SEC with 12. Hard to determine the B12 because they were the SWC, Big 8 and others. But I think it is less than 12.

7. Tennessee -

Read this for meaning, tinklewicket. TAMU may have a big athletics budget, but they are lower half in the SEC. LSU, Florida, and Auburn may have some fine athletics programs, but what they don't have is the history and prestige of Tennessee. UT is in the top three of the SEC, and a degree from some of UT's colleges will take you farther than any degree from any other SEC school.

UT is at best no. 6 behind UA, LSU, UGA, AU, and UF. TAMU still hasn't proven itself, so I'll give you no. 6 in front of TAMU.

Which degrees do you think you have that are better than Vandy, UF, UGA and TAMU, all far better academic schools than UT?

Tennessee isn't a hotbed of HS football, and I don't see many of the better players beating down the path to get to Knoxville, of all places. Fulmer and Pruitt could be great together, or could explode. Should be interesting to see how that plays out over the next few years.

You're a Dawgs fan. No one gives credence to anything you say on this matter.

That's what that fantastic UTjr degree gets you ... the inability to debate, or to refute a single one of my points.

As for anyone giving credence to anything I say on the matter, let's say we took a poll ... UTjr is a top 3 program in the SEC as you say, or UTjr is no. 6 or no. 7 in the SEC as I say. I suggest that it would be 98% agreeing with me, 2% (all UTjr fans) agreeing with you.

Hell, you could have argued that it's between AU, UF and UTjr for no. 4 and that might even be believable. But top 3? GTFO.

UT hasn't be relevant for 2 decades.

AU - 1-6
UA - 5-15 (13 straight losses)
UF - 4-16 (lost 14 of the last 15)
UGA - 6-14 (lost 8 of last 10)
LSU - 2-7

Total 18-58

Let's finish with:

Now, use that fantastic UTjr degree and get in here and tell me where I am wrong, because none of that looks like the top 3 job in the SEC.
