Vandy leads the conference in being last in everything that matters in terms of sports.
I think it is, too. The problem is that it's so remote. Hell man, the closest city is Memphis?Oxford is a nice town, and it would be in any state, not just nice for Mississippi
Which, to an LSU fan, is the only thing that could possibly matter. That, and drinking.Vandy leads the conference in being last in everything that matters in terms of sports.
Memphis is the closest big city, but you know me, the middle of nowhere is where I feel at homeI think it is, too. The problem is that it's so remote. Hell man, the closest city is Memphis?
I lived in Lexington for two years during the Rick Pitino reign and as someone who hates Kentucky basketball, it wasn't easy. So, while I like cities like Columbia, Lexington, Knoxville, Oxford, even fuckin Gainesville, it'd be super tough for me to live there because you have their rabid fans in your face all the damn time. I've never seen anything like Gainesville. 99% of that town is Florida football. There's just never an escape from it.Memphis is the closest big city, but you know me, the middle of nowhere is where I feel at home
I enjoyed my time in Lexington, but I was there for Georgia-Kentucky football, and this was in 2016 with two very mediocre teams and half that stadium was red.I lived in Lexington for two years during the Rick Pitino reign and as someone who hates Kentucky basketball, it wasn't easy. I get you guys have struggled lately. It happens. I still think Arkie is a better job than the Miss schools, Kentucky and South Carolina. One reason is you guys are the only big dog in the state. And, again, I think the hog callers are a damn good fan base. JMO.5 years ago I would have objected to being behind the Mississippi schools, Kentucky and South Carolina when we've arguably had more success in the SEC than them but can't really argue anymore after we've been so terrible lately. Outside of Vandy I really don't think there's that much difference between the lower half SEC schools, any of them can win 8-10 games pretty often with the right coach. Petrino did it here, Mullen at MSU, Freeze at OM, Spurrier did it at SC and Stoops is even on a good run at Kentucky. There was a time I thought we were about even with A&M as a program (we lead the overall series 41-32 even though they've won 8 in a row) but with the way they're recruiting lately I'm not sure about that.
I get that we don't have much in-state talent but we still recruit around the same as Ole Miss and Mississippi State in the 20-30 range. Slightly worse than South Carolina but better than Missouri and Kentucky typically. I just wish we could recruit Texas like Oregon recruits California. Oregon doesn't have much in-state talent either but they recruit Cali like crazy ever since Chip Kelly made them a "cool" program. I guess Walmart and Jerry Jones aren't hip boosters like Nike is lol. Chad Morris actually did a hell of a job signing more 4-stars than we've ever signed in one class in 2019, if only he just wasn't such a terrible coach.
My biggest complaint about Lexington was that the weather sucked.I enjoyed my time in Lexington, but I was there for Georgia-Kentucky football, and this was in 2016 with two very mediocre teams and half that stadium was red.
It was for November when I went, but that was when all the East Tennessee and Kentucky wildfires were going on, so it was like driving through fog from just above Chattanooga to the Renfroe Valley and we all smelled like smoke. My biggest complaint about Lexington was that the weather sucked.
Not to change the subject but Chattanooga is incredible. Had friends move there two years ago. Visited them and was pretty much blown away by everything it offers. Would live there in a split second. It was for November when I went, but that was when all the East Tennessee and Kentucky wildfires were going on, so it was like driving through fog from just above Chattanooga to the Renfroe Valley and we all smelled like smoke.
...if you throw in women's badminton?Everyone knows pac is top overall athletic conference
The Tivoli Theatre there is my second favorite concert venue, second only to the Fox in AtlantaNot to change the subject but Chattanooga is incredible. Had friends move there two years ago. Visited them and was pretty much blown away by everything it offers. Would live there in a split second.
Gainesville is a shithole. I'd rather live in Tuscaloosa.I lived in Lexington for two years during the Rick Pitino reign and as someone who hates Kentucky basketball, it wasn't easy. ...sailing and water polo....if you throw in women's badminton?
Not me and it's not even close. No, hell no do I want to live in Gainesville but it's a million times better than fuckin Tuscaloosa. At the VERY LEAST you can be to the Atlantic or Gulf in no time. Tuscaloosa is a backwards toilet full of ignorant-ass fans who never, ever shut the fuck up. I lived close to Tuscaloosa for almost three years and you couldn't drag me back to Alabama with a fuckin tow truck, man. No fucking way.Gainesville is a shithole. I'd rather live in Tuscaloosa.
If we count Oregon, USC, UCLA softball I might have to agree. Holy shit, have you seen some of those girls?...sailing and water polo.
Day is benefitting from the work and stacked roster Urban Meyer created, and a rather mediocre conference on the national scale. Day's true success will be known in about his year 3 of head coach. I don't think he can sustain this momentum and success. The right person for the Alabama job isn’t going to worry about the pressure of expectations. Look at what Ryan Day is doing at Ohio State
