Brown hasn't been playing well in his minutes. He has an 11 PER and is shooting 29% from 3. He and Hayward getting reduced minutes has directly resulted in the Celtics playing better overall.
Which is why I said, "if they play well in their minutes this season"...

Furthermore: the guys you mention... Brown and Hayward... have both started to play better recently... they've been a part of the better play overall.

I think most on here, myself included, didn't take into account that Hayward didn't play at all for the Celtics last year and that he sat out the entire season.

Because of that, there was a bit of an expectation that he would just fit right in with no adjustment. Now that he's getting used to his teammates and vice versa and also getting back to full strength, it's having the positive impact that most of us thought would come earlier.

I would imagine that they look at per 36 numbers but certainly not as a definitive standard, for the reasons you list.

Even per 36 aren't a true measure of a reserve player playing against other reserves. Those rates aren't likely to hold up against starters.

Again: the C's major potential trade pieces... Rozier, Smart (when eligible for trade) and Brown... are all battle tested against starters in this league.

It's not hypothetical with this group.

The question is whether their trade value will be the same at the end of the season as it is today. Obviously Rozier is more valuable since he will be a RFA.

The Celtics have really looked like they turned the corner. I still am shocked at how Morris can take over a game.

Its looking very good. Time will tell

I don't think they make any moves this year...............they want AD badly as does the fans. Fans at the game were asking AD to sign Celtics jerseys, I think he saw the energy

Nothing set in stone but the two best teams clearly in the East are the Bucks and Raptors...anything can happen though lol.

At this point, before the trade deadline, I would pick them as the 5th seed to beat Philly as the 4th, even with HCA.

Not so sure. Something is not right on this team. There is a bench issue being covered up.

Haven't seen a lot of the C's this year. I think a bit of a slow start was to be expected because they were, for all intents and purposes, adding 2 new players on a team that looked like they had figured out their roles last year.

But for some reason, it is looking like they still haven't gotten if figured out, which I would have thought they had done by now.

There is such a thing as having too much talent. Perhaps there are too many talented players and not enough minutes? :noidea:

That's what the pundits are saying. I think neither Jaylen or Hayward have clear roles.

That's been the argument all along. Young players that have some success in an expanded role don't take to returning to reduced roles well. It doesn't help that Hayward hasn't returned to form.

This article suggests that the Celtics problems revolve around one player...

The Celtics Are Unhinged Because Their Glue Guy Can’t Stay on the Court

Al Horford is just not as effective as he has been the past few years. If this is who Horford is, then the Celtics are in real trouble. If he is just idling by until the playoffs then he could turn it back on in April.

God these Celtics are painful to watch on defense. This team is walking back on defense, except Theis and Smart

Allowing 120+ points against two fairly weak offenses is pretty surprising.

In the span of 2 short games... (admittedly bad losses)... the C's went from one of the hottest teams in the league to:
