and the lineup order would look like this

1. Ellsbury(L)
2. Jeter(R)-unfortunately he has to much of a name not to be a top of the lineup guy
3. Choo(L)(Really hope we get him)
4. tiexiera(S)
5. Soriano(R)
6. McCann(L)
7. kelly Johnson(L)
8. Omar infante(R)- not sure who else is available at 2B so we will use him as the place holder
9. Gardner(L)- speed to start the lineup, speed to end the lineup, double the leadoff hitting...

The lineup looks pretty decent.... although it looks like they need another righty bat... And maybe they can do better than omar infante...

I hope not (for Yankees sake)... Gardner will be 2nd.

As a Sox fan, I would love it and would laugh out loud and roll on the floor laughing.

@BNightengale 19s The ‪#‎Yankees‬ now say they're in on everyone with the money saved: Choo, Beltran, Drew, Infante.

Rodriguez - $22.5
Teixiera - $23.1
Ellsbury - $21.8
Sabbathia - $19
McCann - $17
Jeter - $12
Suzuki - $6.5
Soriano - $5
Wells - $2.4
Ryan - $2

That is already $131.3

If they are thinking about Choo & Tanaka, that will climb to at least $165.

That would leave $24 for the rest of the roster.

Unfortunately (for NY), that is impossible.

They can replace his production and more with the money that they just saved.

It's the same thing the Cardinals did when Pujols left and the Red Sox did after they got bailed out by LA, turning one player into many.

Choo, McCann, Ellsbury, Johnson > Cano

Look at the bigger picture.

Correct. Very wise to move on from Cano.

If A-Rod is suspended for the season they save $27.5 mil this season.

How about the Red Sox? They have such a STEAL with Dustin Pedroia at 8 years $110 mil.

For Luxury Tax purposes, they use the AAV of the balance of the contract.

Correct, which is 27.5, then you add 6 million for the bonus he is due after hitting his 660th HR, which is 6 HR away.

I have a feeling the Yankees already know A-Rod is going to get his suspension so they can plan w/o his salary

Um? Choo and Cano are both 31. And Choo isn't asking for a 10 year contract. Choo had a 143 OPS+ last season, while Cano had a 145.

I love OBP guys, and at YS he would hit like 25 HRs.

Arod will likely be suspended, so that will help a lot... The prior post said "With" ARod's contract, so I just quickly added the totals.

Pedroia's deal does look much better now. (And, Jon Lester just said, he'll give a hometown discount for a contract extension!)

I've been using Cots. https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tpQLwiiQL4kzEzLhsUqVjLQ&output=html

I'll have to do some research to see which is more accurate...
