Auburn's defense is a Big 12 defense right now so I really can't talk.

I have never agreed with the meme that defenses win titles. It is combination of the 2 units.

I would think 5 of 10 teams being ranked would be a hell of an accomplishment. Not sure any conference has ever had half of its teams ranked at the end of a season.
-Read back a few posts then.. the SEC did
In fairness, Oklahoma was missing their best offensive player for that title game.
I don't know if it ultimately makes a difference, but Demarco Murray accounted for 22% of the offense in that record setting Sooner offensive year.
I think the Sooners had goal to go from the 3 yard line (TWICE) and came away with zero points.
If they convert either of those goal lines, the game is a Sooner blowout in the first half.
I don't know if Murray gets in, but I do know the other back got stuffed at the 1 inch line 3 times.
I am not crying for them, Texas or Utah probably should have played that game anyways.
But, it is worth noting.

Another thing about national title games. There needs to be a rule that teams can't play for the NC in their home State. You can't tell me it's not a huge advantage when OU had to play Lsu in NO or Florida in Florida. Same with Ohio St. Can you imagine if those games where played in Tulsa or Cleveland?

when?
now that is some butthurt, crybaby shit right there
Exactly.. in 2010 8 teams and auburn @ 1 ...I am going by current conference alignments which is what counts today for these posts.. also counted The big 12 as it is currently aligned today..
UF was held to 20 below their season average in that game also, would have been a much better game had it been played in the middle of the season, the long layoff affected both offenses.
I gotta agree a little bit. I don't believe there's a crowd support issue because Oklahoma travels very well, especially for the title game and how long are they in the city before the game?

yeah, sorry KT, gotta throw a flag on that one

that doesnt count. Actually SEC had 6 of 12. That is half. Pretty impressive yr. Not sure if anyone else has done it. (too lazy to check)
