Didn't OU struggle mightily against an awful WVU defense that was shredded by fuckin Maryland?
and speaking of those games, with advantages with where they are, OU was FAVORED to win both against LSU AND Florida. The truth of the matter is, those historic offenses ran up against defenses that hadn't quite faced yet
-Word. Offense is hot all across football now. But defense still wins championships, and the team in the title game who plays the best defense THAT NIGHT will win. It might be Oregon, who picks off a Tahj Boyd pass as time expires in a 63-56 game, but it'll still be defense.
Game has changed a bit, and Stoops has a point: a crop of good offensive QB's have made the SEC defenses look less than dominant.
and against aTm....but those games were indeed hard fought, I just remember those 2 years, that OU had 2 of the best offenses I had ever seen(especially the Sam Bradford year), and they just did not seem like themselves in the title gameThe only bowl game he's gotten "rolled" in was the USC game. All the others were hard fought games.
Bob just cant help it. There is truth to the SEC over-rated defenses claim, but not enough to make noise. At the end of the day, the current Big 12 is probably the weakest edition in the past 5 yrs. I would wait at least until next yr to talk smack.

Absolutely this is the worst Big 12 showing we have had in years (I would say more than 5 years even). Also, agree this is not the year for any Big 12 coach to talk smack, as it is too easy of a comeback. However, at least he had the guts to say it and what he said has some truth to it.
yeah he's becoming the Chael Sonnen of CFB.
We've been over this. That was with knight at QB. Totally different situation now. Try and keep up.
The rest of this thread isn't interesting enough to read. I'm going to bring it up because it bears being brought up repeatedly.

not sure that is the case. Sure as hell is not the case in the NFL. I can not remember a bad offense winning the title. I can remember bad defense winning (Auburn). This is just another BS sports meme. All about the mix.
-I have no idea what you're disagreeing with, Coda.
Are you saying offenses aren't ahead of defenses right now?
Or, are you saying defense DOESN'T win you a title?
Color me puzzled at what you took issue with.
