Makes sense for Boston. They essentially get a free first baseman for 3 years. Pay half his salary this year and definitely upgraded their current 1B situation.
Their current 1B totals is like a 85 OPS+ where as Hosmer is at 112 OPS+
If and when Hosmer starts to falter they can just cut bait..

Beeter could be good. Doesn’t give up many hits and strikeouts are over 14 per 9 innings. Walks a ton though but they may be able to fix that like they’ve done so far with Abreu.
