It’s the recruiting I’m most worried about. Urban came here Day 1 and recruited at a level we’ve never seen before. Urban also was an amazing judge of talent when it came to coaching hires. Coach Day has made some decent hires thus far, but no big splashes and the jury is still out how his staff will perform. Urban left us with a lot of riches on the roster, so early success can be deceiving. I’m worried about years 2 and 3 going forward. I’m just telling you man, there’s growing pains ahead. Don’t want to see our fan base lose their collective minds when Day has his first 3+ loss season, because like it or not it’s coming.
It may or may not come. Tress had three 3+ loss seasons (one of those was year one, and he didn't take over a team nearly as talented as this team). I'm not worried about recruiting, yet at least.

So which shit team will embarrass the Buckeyes this year? Im leaning towards Nebraska or Maryland but there are other choices.

Right now the 2020 recruiting class is top 3, and he's minimized recruiting losses. They're considered a favorite for many 5* guys, including the #1 recruit overall. His offensive talent is obvious, seeing what Barrett and Haskins did under him. We'll see how his staff does. It'd be an enormous shock to see them go the way of Miami or Florida State.
That's probably on the heels of Urban, mind you they start talking to these kids years ago. A lot remains to be seen, I'm just being carefully optimistic.

Yeah, we could lose some guys, but remember that Day was a good recruiter himself, plus we poached one of michigan's best recruiters on defense.

Ohio State as a program is in a MUCH MUCH more stable shape than the Miami/FSU/USC/Michigans of the world when they started going down the drain. I'm not worried about things going that way at all.

Absolutely. I'm not ready to anoint Day just yet, but I'm significantly happier about having him as our HC than having him leave and Urban retires.

For all we know? Urban had Barrett before Day was there, and he was a dud for two seasons. Then Day got there and he had the most productive season of his college career. Day has also surrounded himself with some amazing coaches as well. Nothing to think he can't be a really good coach, and nothing about michigan in 2019 is scary.
JT was a dud before Day got there? Umm, no. The Buckeyes were 11-1 in 2014 with JT starting (even though he wasn't the starter until 10 days before the season when Braxton Miller re-injured his shoulder).

Barrett was named Conference Freshman of the Week seven times and received the Big Ten's Thompson–Randle El Freshman of the Year award. He received the Big Ten's Griese–Brees Quarterback of the Year award in 2014, 2016 and 2017.

He sucked in 2015 but that was all on the coaches not being able to make a decision about QB between Cardale and JT.

His best season was his Freshman year you realize, right? He had one less touchdown on 57 less attempts, better passer rating, more yards per completion and more yards per attempt than his senior season.

His junior season was on par with his sophomore season but he was splitting time with Cardale Jones.

Stop with the bullshit.

He’s really young. Hope we give him the time he needs because Dabo was really young when he started at Clemson and had his growing pains too. If Coach Day is successful, we can enjoy that for a long, long time.

Dabo took over a decent team that was about 50/50 for finishing as a 20-25 ranked team. Day is taking over a powerhouse program that finishes in the top 5.

All of a sudden, our season depends on whether or not Justin Fields is granted immediate eligibility.

I like the schedule at the start of the season. A good chance for a new coach and a transfer QB to settle in. I have faith we'll do well and beat Michigan again.

Sorry that you are to slow to understand the difference between building something from mediocrity and having a pre-built machine.
