This has tightened way up.

Additionally the gap from the 3rd wild card down is shrinking as well.

Cleveland is in outside danger of missing the playoffs. The hitting "luck" has completely derailed for them.
Cleveland is in no danger of missing the playoffs. Numerous playoff predictors have them at 96%+

6.5 up on Boston with 30 games to go.

If Cleveland goes 12-18 Boston would have to go 19-11--- both are highly unlikely. If Guards just go .500- which is extremely realistic with the schedule getting much much more reasonable- the Red Sox would have to go 22-8 basically.

Royce Lewis is not hitting .258 with a .321 obp

I was told he was better than Jose Ramirez just a couple months ago.

Guards do not have to face Skenes or Jones against the Pirates--- they better at least win this fucking series. If they lose this series on my way home from work I am gonna take a dump on the Thome statue.

This would be a thing if it was just Boston chasing them. Is it likely they miss the playoffs? No it isn't. Given their play over the last 57 games is 7 games below .500 it is not completely ridiculous for them to have a 11 and 19 kind of finish however.

This is where it’s nice playing in a media wasteland that most people don’t care about. When the Phils had their slide post All Star break the whole world of baseball media was up their ass. The Guardians have blown a massive division lead and yet nobody is talking about their collapse at all.

Jhonkensy Noel has been a spotlighted prospect for a while because of his power- but he was never even ranked as a top 10 guy in the system--- most people thought he had a lot of Bobby Bradley or Franmil Reyes in him--- power but would never control the strike zone or have a good enough hit tool to stay in the majors.

Now- that still might be the case if/when the league adjusts- but he has looked really solid thus far and has added some power in the outfield they desperately needed.

13 homers in 126 at bats, a 944 ops and a not great but at least serviceable .333 obp has really helped out----- when he hits them they are gone too. He absolutely destroyed a pretty good 96 mph fastball in on his hands tonight

if he doesnt adjust he will fade into not much--- if he can improve his strike zone control a little bit he might just become a pretty good player. Will be interesting to see.

I am interested in seeing Manzardo and Valera come up on Sept. 1 and see what they can do. Valera was a big time prospect for quite a while, but kept getting hurt and struggling---- he has finally gottne healthy and is killing the ball right now. Manzardo is raking in AAA too.

Pretty strong add as the Royals lineup against LHP is a disaster. Melendez has been good, albeit low OBP vs RHP, but pitcher like against lefties. Dejong is less extreme but also has stark splits and Massey can’t play everyday. As long as they stay true to platoons it’s a good move.
