I will say this - Sanders is acutely aware of what he needs to work on, and he's did grow up in the bright lights. It's true that non of what he's going to see in the NFL, or face, phases him from a mental standpoint. On that, I think is where I see his upside. Where I think you saw the money, attention, expectations weigh heavily on a guy like Williams (who I was not a fan of in the last draft), I think Sanders can handle that - and it will help him get to his ceiling faster, and likely on a more consistent basis...I just question how high that ceiling is. I don't see LJ or even Hurts in his game...I see some Tua...but again, it takes a guy like Miami's coach to be willing to adapt that offense...and we see the limitations of that offense, even with 2 very good WR's, when they face really good teams/defenses....
Most of mine are not assumptions. I watched him play often as Cincinnati is in the B12 along with Colorado. He has some impressive stretches, no doubt...but the facts are the facts. His WR room was elite good. Hunter would start on any other college team, and Horn Jr would start on most other college teams. Yet, despite having those two elite WR's, nearly 70% of his throws came 3 yards or less. How do you process a defense when the play is quite literally snap, step, throw 3 yards, or behind the LOS? There isn't a progressive read on the offense they ran. It's somewhat similar, IMO, to what is ran in Miami with Tua. It can work in the NFL, but he needs the right offense. Over time, I do think he can develop that - he has good traits and genetics. But, if you are taking a 1st round QB in the top 5ish picks...that guy better be ready to be THE guy sooner than later, and I'm not sold that Sanders can be that guy.
I watched a lot of the big games and never felt like I was ever impressed with an entire game of work from him. He’s streaky & very inconsistent. Rarely saw him live up to the expectations, but he was hardly the only problem with that team in big moments.
