Arrogance, or confidence... Either way you look at it... I don't think he performed well enough to live up to this image he's portraying

I will say this - Sanders is acutely aware of what he needs to work on, and he's did grow up in the bright lights. It's true that non of what he's going to see in the NFL, or face, phases him from a mental standpoint. On that, I think is where I see his upside. Where I think you saw the money, attention, expectations weigh heavily on a guy like Williams (who I was not a fan of in the last draft), I think Sanders can handle that - and it will help him get to his ceiling faster, and likely on a more consistent basis...I just question how high that ceiling is. I don't see LJ or even Hurts in his game...I see some Tua...but again, it takes a guy like Miami's coach to be willing to adapt that offense...and we see the limitations of that offense, even with 2 very good WR's, when they face really good teams/defenses....Ward & Howard are the only QBs with upside that look worthy of investing into some development years.
Sanders... I think he is going to need at least 1 year as a backup before he's mentally ready. Once he's removed out from underneath his father's thumb he's going to have a lot of pressure on him. His father maintained a certain level of image for his son even after very poor performances. And the skills transition from college to pro are going to be a lot bigger than they appear.
Could say similar things about Travis Hunter. The luster from these Deion Sanders disciples will wear off soon enough.
Most of mine are not assumptions. I watched him play often as Cincinnati is in the B12 along with Colorado. He has some impressive stretches, no doubt...but the facts are the facts. His WR room was elite good. Hunter would start on any other college team, and Horn Jr would start on most other college teams. Yet, despite having those two elite WR's, nearly 70% of his throws came 3 yards or less. How do you process a defense when the play is quite literally snap, step, throw 3 yards, or behind the LOS? There isn't a progressive read on the offense they ran. It's somewhat similar, IMO, to what is ran in Miami with Tua. It can work in the NFL, but he needs the right offense. Over time, I do think he can develop that - he has good traits and genetics. But, if you are taking a 1st round QB in the top 5ish picks...that guy better be ready to be THE guy sooner than later, and I'm not sold that Sanders can be that guy.I think people make the wrong assumptions about Sanders. Everything I've read/heard/seen talks about his intangibles at the position including his ability to quickly process defense and elevate his team. He had good receivers, but he took over a program where the cupboard was bare and he played with immense amount of pressure on him. And I could care less if some people find him arrogant with the press - Some of the best quarterbacks, including 9 on the Bengals say shit that sounds arrogant.
I'm not arguing that Sanders will be a top 10 guy - But I think he'll be better than a lot of trash that is thrown out there in the NFL.
