One thing I don't get is why is Hill in there on the last 2 plays. They need to take a shot to the endzone and he was in the game for blocking. You have a 250 pound back. Use him!! I thought the playcalling could have been better and the fact Henry got 8 touches after the 5 touches he got on the first drive (that looked fairly easy) is kind of mindblowing. Playcalling wasn't great or a headscratcher at times but Lamar missed A LOT of open throws. He had so many completions bc 25+ of his completions were dump offs or completions 5 yards from the LOS.

It may have gotten lost (with a several different posters positing different angles), but my point is this:

Lamar Jackson is a QB. He's a pretty freaking good QB. He's a 2-time MVP winning QB. He may not fit the ideal of "QB" that some have, but that doesn't make him any less of a QB. People can state he will never win a SB. Maybe he won't. He hasn't in his first 5 years in the league. It certainly seems like he's going to need to get past Mahomes in order to do it. Pretty tough task. Whatever. He's still a QB and always will be.

So are we going to talk about him as a player or QB? Bc those are two different things. Nobody will argue he is extremely talented and athletic but there are more than 15 QB's better at passing the ball than Lamar and that is being kind.

He's a one-and-a-half trick pony.

The half-trick that he is missing as a passer is not made up by the other full trick that he does really really well. He's just missing that dimension as a passer, and you still really do need that to get a Lombardi in the NFL.

He IS a QB, but he isn't good enough at passing, and running well just doesn't make up for it.

Just a quick question, because I honestly don't know.

Lamar was 3rd in QBR and 4th in QB rating last year (among players with at least 400 pass attempts). How much is running the football factored into those stats?

The only conversation I was having is if he is a QB or not. Not only do I think he's a QB, I think he's absolutely a top-5 QB in this league. Anyone can argue with that and I would respectively disagree. Anyone who wants argue whether he's a QB or not most likely is just coming from a place of disliking him. It's their way of disrespecting him or it's simply because he doesn't fit their "ideal" of what a QB should be.

BTW...I can bring up QBR or QB rating...but my guess is they are "flawed" in some way to those who want them to be "flawed".

Whatever...kind of a pointless exercise.
