I'd put Zach Britton ahead of JV or Sale right now.

45/45 is impressive and so are the rest of his numbers. But I'm biased against relievers when it comes to the CYA. They have their own award. I feel the same way about pitchers and the MVP.

I can see Cleveland barely holding on till the end.
Pressure of the tigers wearing them down. GO Into Play Offs A Tired team. Just saying

Yeah that 7 game lead with 10 games to go is very worrying :L

They will go into the playoffs without two of their SP's in their rotation, that's it. That's why they need the best record. Nobody wants to play Boston in the first round

45/45 is impressive and so are the rest of his numbers.

No matter what, it's a damn impressive season, but I do think 45/45 is slightly misleading in so much that it implies perfection. He did get tagged with a loss, but it wasn't a save situation, so it doesn't count as a blown save.

This really has nothing to do with how impressive he's been this year or his chances at the CY. It's just an observation I made while looking over his numbers.

Yeah, they have Happ at 3rd too. Not sure how you put a 6 inning guy with his numbers 3rd, but they get paid for their opinions on it and I don't. :noidea:

I hear you. The rankings are based on a formula they created, so I wouldn't really say "they think" Happ's 3rd, just that their formula puts him there. I would, without question, put Sale and Verlander ahead of Happ on my list, and I assume they would too. Happ's 3rd place ranking is just an anomaly caused by his ridiculous (and lucky) 20-4 record.

Agreed.

Ironically, from an SP standpoint, the Indians and Tigers would enter the playoffs in basically the same situation: one ace followed by a rotation held together with rubber bands and bubble gum.

With a stronger lineup (eat a dick, @Marlins2003), a much better bullpen, and significantly more heart, the Indians have an advantage over the Tigers, but realistically the Indians are going to need a significant amount of luck if they're to have a meaningful postseason run. The Tigers would need more.

I believe Vice is in Brazil (Mexico) at this time every year. Beauty contests and business deals, if I recall correctly.

Sadly, you are under the illusion that doug KNOWS how many games are left in the season or how to figure out how a team is mathematically eliminated from a pennant race. He doesn't...........

Shits and giggles.. when you didn't even notice that they are projecting the Tigers to have a better overall offense than the Indians... who ever believes a team is going to hit less.. get on base less.. have a lower slugging percentage.. and score more runs?

On the surface, that is curious for sure, but the projected rate stats really aren't all that different.

CLE: .257/.322/.406/.728
DET: .265/.323/.409/.732

The projected OPS's are only .004 different. That's not very much. I don't want to speak for BP, but if I had to guess why they'd project the Indians to have a OPS .004 less than the Tigers but still score more runs, I'd guess it was based on what they expect to happen on the basepaths.

if you can show me how in any way... having lower BA/OBP/SLG in any shape for form.. even if it is a small number equates to having nearly 20 more runs scored... I will give you the award of the day.

Hey, @Marlins2003, it's "Have Fun With Tards Friday," so without further ado:

I'm really hoping that over the next ten games, the Tigers can pick up 2 points of OBP and SLG on the Indians. If the Tigers can pull that off, the Indians will have lower BA, OBP, and SLG percentages, yet will have outscored the Tigers by approximately 45 runs.

lol, half wit. Now where's my award of the day?

I'm rooting for your guys to wrap it up this weekend so some of those arms and bats can get some well deserved rest next week.

Much obliged, man. They're sure gonna need every edge they can get their hands on.

No props for Verlander? ? When needed most...he stands tall.
Looks like royals have bags packed already. Tigers should put things right this series

Afternoon doug. OK - Props for Verlander. (But 115 pitches in 6.0 innings? Not so good)

You will have to explain the "putting things right" remark. Don't get your meaning.
