You have to love an Cleveland sports fan.. arguing semantics because his team is a black hole of suck that hasn't won shit since before color tv existed.

The fact an Indians fan comes in here and spews anything is fucking hilarious. The Indians fans are the last people that should be talking to anyone about winning WS. Every team in the AL Central has won MUCH more recently... Its not even close.

I actually did. Just because I don't remember it doesnt' change that fact.

I was 22 in '84, going to college and working at a convenience store. I distinctly remember watching Jack Morris' no-hitter early that year on a little black-and-white TV at the store counter. I also remember my shift ending in the middle of WS Game 5, and racing home in time to see Gibson crush the clinching home run off Gossage.

I can remember the 1987 season pretty clearly.. but 1984 I was only 3. I was wearing tigers garb from the time I was born though and can assure you that my dad had me watching every game with him.

who ever believes a team is going to hit less.. get on base less.. have a lower slugging percentage.. and score more runs?

On the surface, that is curious for sure, but the projected rate stats really aren't all that different.

CLE: .257/.322/.406/.728
DET: .265/.323/.409/.732

The projected OPS's are only .004 different. That's not very much. I don't want to speak for BP, but if I had to guess why they'd project the Indians to have a OPS .004 less than the Tigers but still score more runs, I'd guess it was based on what they expect to happen on the basepaths.

I think you have a tenuous grasp on the definition of semantics.

if you can show me how in any way... having lower BA/OBP/SLG in any shape for form.. even if it is a small number equates to having nearly 20 more runs scored... I will give you the award of the day.

I also remember watching WS Game 3 through a window of the sports bar where my wife (girlfriend then) played softball, and seeing Marty Castillo hit a home run. The softball park had a bar in the center of 4 fields, so you could walk 15 feet and watch both the softball game and whatever was on the TVs in the bar.

Well....I see that Vice stayed up late and collected a bunch of info on the Indians to have ready for today's work. Really amazing how this business dynamo, Marine veteran, husband, father, and owner of MULTIPLE businesses can afford to spend so much time here - as well as spend time gathering information to aid in these IMPORTANT discussions. But...as you can see by the tone of his responses, these "debates" are extremely important to him...a justification of his own importance perhaps? A filling of a gap in his life? Seldom do you see so much time spent on the discussion of how great a Detroit SS is!!! Or if one baseball team's lineup is seen as inferior by 30 baseball executives!!! Yet Vice's passion is real...the zeal he shows is palpable. THIS SHIT IS IMPORTANT TO HIM. His manhood is on the line. THE GUY IS FUCKING CRAZY...LMAO

I think you have a real shitty view of what a winner looks like.. seeing as you have never seen one in your lifetime in Cleveland.

iffy still goes to the library to read books on a subject.. that is why he never has accurate numbers or facts.
