Notably, BA lists the Dodgers as the most likely landing spot for him, to the surprise of no one. We'll find out for sure in the next 2 to 10 days.

Giants are in the top 8 though. I’m sure they will kick our tires and state we were in the running after the dodgers sign him.

I seriously wonder if the fires will affect his decision to sign with the doggies. If he met with them pre-fires, he may have driven through Malibu and Palisades looking at homes to buy. Seeing as those areas hardly exist anymore, that MAY factor in to his calculus.

Maybe, but we know nothing about what is important to him and there are plenty of other places that he could have been interested in living.

And other teams. Of course we don’t know. Does he want to establish his own “legend” (thus avoiding the Mariners, doggies, Angels, Spanks, etc)? Does he want to play with other Japanese players (doggies, Cubs)? Does he want to win or build?

If I were in an advantageous position as a FA baseball player right now, I wouldn’t consider the Giants at all. They offer nothing but a nice park. No strong MLB roster. No strong farm to indicate a winning team coming. No FO with a history of doing the right thing. Horrible state/local tax situation. VERY political local climate.

It hurts to acknowledge all that, but it is true. Even calling us a mid-tier franchise right now would be generous.

I'm pretty sure it is going to be the Dodgers (Padres and Blue Jays seem to be the only two left). But one can hold on to crazy, delusional dreams, right? I'm mean msg points out that Sasaki and Darvish are close friends. It will obviously be the Padres.
