Josuar Gonzalez, SS, Dominican Republic
Djean Macares, OF, Aruba
Yulian Barreto, SS, Venezuela
Carlos Martinez, C, Venezuela

Done deal.
I slot him in as our #2 prospect. Ignoring how things turned out, he is our new Luciano. I have seen a LOT of Francisco Lindor comparisons.

I think that's fair, and I'd put him #2 as well.

Now bring me my Hebrew homie to play 2b!!

Jon Morosi thinks Kim signs with either the Giants or Mariners; won't be ready opening day.

But Luciano (assuming no HUGE turnaround this season or next) is just another in a long lineage…

Villalona
Fox
Cabrera (RIP)
Luciano

We have 2 of “those guys” currently in the system (Arias and now Gonzalez). Arias has battled injuries the last 2 years, so his future is starting to look worrisome. Let’s hope we EVENTUALLY break this damned curse.

FYI

Macares and Barreto are both considered nice prospects as well. I would equate them to something like 3rd to 5th round quality. The Latin pitching pool was considered pretty light this year. So seeing us only getting bats so far is not a huge concern on the surface.

Per Feinsand: With spring training only a month away, and Justin Verlander’s deal official, the Giants recently had a conversation with free-agent outfielder Randal Grichuk’s camp, source says. Grichuk is coming off a season in which he hit .291/.348/.528 with an .875 OPS in 106 games.

Solid player, really strong season with Arizona in 2024. Has slashed .301/.350/.543 (137 wRC+) in 648 PA vs. lefties since 2021.Would probably platoon with Yaz as the roster is currently constructed. Wouldn't be an exciting move, per se, but they need to strengthen their bench.

In general, I don’t have a prob with him. But who gets dumped?

I would guess Jerar would be on the hot seat?

Lee
Ramos
Yaz

Matos (has option)
Jerar (no option)

Probably Matos in AAA to begin the season, Carney as 5th OF/DH

Most homers by a Giant, since 2002:
195 — Barry Bonds
175 — Brandon Belt
158 — Buster Posey
146 — Brandon Crawford

Bonds retired in 2007.

I often wonder if we had the DH in the NL and Barry played three more years, would he have ended up with 900+ HRs?

It wasn’t his defense that caused him to “retire”. It was the fact that the league collided to blackball him.

for intl pool money

#forevergiant
I like that trade. We blew our international load today, so reloading with some extra $$ is a very good thing.

I have nothing against Sabol, I just don’t think he added anything to us. Good luck to him on the rest of his career.

Per multiple sources, the Giants acquired $250,000 in IFA pool money from the Marlins for William Kempner and another $250,000 in IFA pool money from the Red Sox for Blake Sabol. So they added $500,000 in total IFA pool money.

This is the team having to dig out of the hole created by signing Chapman and Snell last year, which caused the org to be tied with the Dodgers for the lowest international pool money. Of course, they will have to do this again next year
