Technically if they could create cap space they could offer him more

But that would take a lot of work, including losing OG to someone else and not picking up bog’s option
That article says they are limited to giving him 175% of what he was making next year because they only signed him to a 2 year contract.

Probably because the odds of them creating cap space are impossibly low

It’s the same thing Kelly oubre on the sixers but on a smaller scale

No I believe it’s all covered by only having early Bird rights. They can free up all the cap space they want, the 175% limit still applies.

The Knicks are limited in what they can do because they don’t have full Bird rights, only early Bird rights. They can free up all the money they want but they can only pay him $16.2 M this coming season. The Thunder can offer him a 2 year deal at substantially more than that and then he could be a full free agent at only 28.

He might like what they have going there and take 16.2 mill. It's not chopped liver and he could still get more in a few years when he is a "full free agent." And would still be just 28.

He might, and the Knicks can offer him more years. But he could likely get 2 years at at least 25 mil per year and still be a full free agent in 2 years. He will have some decisions to make.

The New York Knicks are looking to keep Isaiah Hartenstein and O.G Anunoby with both being free agents this offseason. One NBA insider reported that some people in the organization feel confident about their chances to re-sign both. According to Ian Begley of SNY Sports, "members of the [Knicks] organization felt earlier in the offseason that they were in a good place on both Anunoby and Hartenstein" regarding their free agent status.

While keeping Anunoby is possible, New York is in a tough spot when it comes to keeping Hartenstein as the Knicks cannot offer him more than $72 million over four years due to CBA restraints. Other squads can offer him a lot more money and Hartenstein is expected to "draw at least $80 million, and perhaps upward of $100 million."

He wants security and wants to be wanted.

He is a pretty loyal guy.

Dude was actually willing to stay with the Clippers for 6.5 mil over taking the deal in NY.

The Clippers gave that money to * gulps* John Wall.

Because Hartenstein was coming off a one-year, minimum contract, the NBA’s never-simple bylaws prevented the Clippers from granting him his market value. Instead, they could offer no more than the $6.5 million midlevel exception.

Hartenstein says that had the Clippers offered the midlevel exception to him, he would have stayed, even though he could have made more elsewhere. He gushes over their head coach, Ty Lue, who turned Hartenstein into the hub of their bench offense. But the Clippers needed a point guard, too, so instead of using their best free-agent tool on a backup center, they gave the midlevel exception to five-time All-Star John Wall.

Hartenstein’s preference, according to league sources, is to find long-term security, not high-risk, high-reward instability .

Well if Pluto has the same source he clearly does not have the same strings attached as you...he seems to think it's Atkinson now.

whoever it is, kind of hope they name him before draft.
Yeah I don’t know the timeline or anything. Pluto was saying the same but it seemed like he thought he was the frontrunner

He's friends with Bron, played with JJ on those Clippers teams. He's not prime but when he was healthy last year, he was fine in a reduced role. On the vet min off the bench, everyone in Lakers should be on board. Those not need to get their heads on straight

Yea well, Pro Sports can be filled with lunatics from time-to-time. I wouldn't be surprised if it really did happen but the likelihood is probably closer to being less even though Colin Coward Cowherd doesn't think so.
