Hopefully, his first year with the Giants' org is kind to him. Pitchers have taken horrible beatings with the Giants' AAA affiliate in recent years.
He's 6' 5" with decent stuff.
But, it's between the ears that will determine his success.

Oooooh, 6/200. $33.3 AAV. We could have offered that with minimal luxury tax for the first year.

Of course, it says the Twins "reached agreement", not "signed".

It ain't over till it's over.
This is a false narrative. I seriously doubt Boras/Correa wanted to deal with either the Giants or the Mets after what happened.

This deal was never available for us.

nothing. MN would join the club as a team Boras/Correa won't negotiate with again.
I respectfully disagree. See my post #1136.

I will say, this is only my opinion, as the above are yours.

not sure what the attachment has to do with it but, sure. You might be right, but human nature would argue against it.

SF was the org that outed his issue. NYM confirmed it. MN said "hey, we have the medicals and we're OK with them, here's 57% of what you were offered."

I can't see how Boras would come back to either SF or NYM after that.

Because, for all practical purposes, HIPAA disclosures notwithstanding, now everyone knows Correa is risky goods. All teams are on equal footing. It's not the Giants' or the Mets' fault. The Mets and Giants dealt with Boras/Correa on a good faith basis, then through their objective, reasonable, dispassionate due diligence, made the factual discovery of some health issues that led them to legally and ethically back out of their respective tentative agreements. There was no animosity, seemingly no bad blood. At worst, Boras is embarrassed about not disclosing Correa's health issues.

Baseball is now much more of a business. Huge amounts of money are at stake. Now that all the cards are on the table, IMHO, Boras and Correa Should look on us and the Mets as potential suitors, just as they would view any other ballclub. For Boras to ignore the Giants and the Mets now would be a tremendous disservice to his client who is simply trying to cut the best deal for himself.

If I was Correa, I would cut ties with Boras if he can, just as a way to distance himself from this fiasco, even though it may not be Boras's fault (although Boras did the very same thing with Conforto a couple years back). Get a fresh start.

I see your points, and I suspect is IS Correa. Dude has egg on his face in SF and NY...MN is a nice landing spot and he recoups a lot of the original contract.

MIN is hardly ideal for anyone, but for $33mm/yr I'll play at the Gates of Hell in a gasoline suit (hat tip to Pete Rose for partial use of his metaphor).

There is a brief blurb on Conforto's health at the end of this article. I've assumed he'll be ready to go for Opening Day but it is possible that, depending on how his progression goes, that he may need some extra time.

I'm expecting he'll be ready opening day along with Meetch (Haniger), Disco, Da Kid(Manaea), and Chicken Strip (Stripling).

BTW, one of his listed nicknames is Scooter. Not sure if I want to use that or Forto.

the only guy I see not being ready at this point is Skywalker (Jackson).

A thought I had about Gary Sanchez -- he'd be a nice platoon mate with Joc at DH. Dude can hit. Defense is an issue (but he had a nice 2022 behind the dish), but he'd be an offensive upgrade.

Uh, Bart's OPS+ was 86 in 2022. Sanchez' was 89 in 2022. Barely an upgrade.

I don’t understand people making a huge point about Bart’s season OPS+ for ‘22. He was a COMPLETELY different player after coming back from Sacto. He may not be an all-star, but he isn’t the player we saw in the first half of the season, either.

First, I meant as an upgrade to the backup position, where we currently have Sokol.
Second, his 2022 is just one metric. Career OPS+ is 109.
That said, his dWAR last year was decent, but I don't think that's accurate either. He's not a good preventer of SB, nor is he a particularly good framer.

TLDR: he'd be a good get.

I wouldn't mind the Giants putting in a claim on Connor Seabold
I wouldn’t be against it. He still has 1 option, so he doesn’t handcuff the 26. If we were to claim him, I would guess that Long or Gonzo would be the corresponding move.
