I'll be happy with him if he is kept to DH duties and hits like he did last year (or like he did in 2015, 2016 or 2019). He could at least earn most of that money. If the Giants stick him on the field, in light of how he played last year and his comments - then I think that's buyer beware. They went into this with the full knowledge that his defense stinks and he doesn't care.
I looked up BBRef to see who the worst fielders were in MLB, rated by dWAR. Unsurprisingly, Jocko was there, along with Darin Ruf. There was one surprising, to me, name however:

So, he's human after all.

Move Biden to the OF?

Ohhh, Jocko. Jocko is a LHH, Gerald is a RHH. They can figure it out.

One thing Posey can do every game - leadership. Hell, make him the manager, too.

Yes, make Posey a player/manager like Pete Rose but without the gambling.

Per MLB source… former Braves pitcher Luke Jackson is in serious negotiations with San Francisco Giants. Official announcement could come soon

Jackson is a stud back of the bullpen guy if healthy.

With Doval, TRog, Other TRog, Brebbia and Jackson we'll be in very good shape.
His ‘21 was elite. But outside of that, his numbers have been meh at best.

yes, but that's his most recent work. Not a stretch to think that returning to full health a year after TJ will allow him to get back to that.

Depends on the money, but potentially a great move by FZ.

I don’t have a prob with the (potential) signing. I am just not ready to put him in high leverage situations just yet.

In 2021, he was 2–2 with a 1.98 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 63+2⁄3 innings. His 31 holds ranked second in the major leagues.[19] He won his first championship ring that year as the Braves won the World Series in six games.
Prior to the 2022 season, the Braves disclosed that magnetic resonance imaging had revealed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament of Jackson's right elbow.[20][21] He underwent successful surgery on that elbow on April 13, 2022.[22] In May, Jackson was granted a $3.6 million salary for the 2022 season via arbitration.[23] Due to having Tommy John surgery, Jackson missed the entire 2022 season.

Isn't the recovery time from TJ surgery usually 13 to 15 months? If so, he may be a Brebbia type acquisition.

This seems to be the consensus range of thinking:

"The recovery time before a baseball player can return to the game may be as long as 12–18 months for MLB pitchers. This time frame may mean that a player has to miss one or two competitive seasons. However, this lengthy recovery is necessary for the maturation of the graft."
He had the surgery in April 2022. The likely reasonable scenario is that he would not be ready until at least after the 2023 ASB. Estimates may vary. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

That's how it is for most relievers. Hardly any are dominant year after year

1B/3B is still a question mark, but I suspect it will be manned primarily by Villar/Davis/Flores/LMJ. Luciano and/or Schmitt are potential adds later in the season.

BU catcher is almost certainly not resolved yet. I can’t imagine they go into the season with Sabol as the o ly other catcher on the roster. Whether they bring in a new face on the 40 (probably through a trade) or go with one of the many NRIs that they either already have or will have, is still very unclear.

except Melancon. He was consistently elite except for the few years he spent in the French Vanilla.
I get the feeling that the Giants will bring in 3 or 4 catchers as NRIs and could even trade for someone a week (or a couple of days) before Opening Day. They've done that before, under FZ.

Gary Sanchez is the top catcher remaining on the free agent market. His defensive metrics improved so much they were actually above average in 2022, yet his defensive rep is clearly impacting his market. Still only 29. Could be good buy-low candidate.
