I heard on the radio he signed for 11/330. So, he's off the table. All true. My bad. I defiantly conflatulated FA and trade status. Carry on.

Plus why move out of an awesome state? I hate Gavin Newsome, but I want him to leave, why should I leave when he’s the one that sucks?Thing is, we don't know that's why any of those three chose NY. My guess --
Judge: came up a Yankee, wants to retire a legend there
Rodon: Giants never offered near his market value
Sabean: Frozen out of any real input.
Nothing to do with taxes or state government.
I don’t see this signing anywhere yet, but it does make sense. MLBTR reported earlier today that extension talks have been moving along between the two sides.I heard on the radio he signed for 11/330. So, he's off the table.
Moreover, if you're leaving a high tax jurisdiction, I don't think you're picking NY as your destination.Plus why move out of an awesome state? I hate Gavin Newsome, but I want him to leave, why should I leave when he’s the one that sucks?
Hat tip to office space
As much as I hate Newsom, he gets WAY too much credit for the state of the state. It isn’t like California was the pinnacle of well run government before he took over. It was fucked up when he took office. It is fucked up now. He had nothing to do with us getting where we are.Plus why move out of an awesome state? Fake newsDevers, Red Sox finalize extension through 2033
BOSTON -- The Red Sox on Wednesday announced that they've signed third baseman Rafael Devers to an extension through the 2033 season. Terms of the contract were not announced, but a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand that it's for $331 million for 11 years, which includes the $17.5 million dealwww.mlb.com
I was off by $1M....peanuts
Agreed. He's pretty much just put lipstick on a pig. Kinda like Sleepy Joe.As much as I hate Newsom, he gets WAY too much credit for the state of the state. OK, just floating a test out here for fun and discussion. Please feel free to critique and improve.
What if Boston signed Devers to a 10/275, then traded him to us for Yaz, Doval, and a top-shelf prospect?
Welp, Devers can probably be taken off the list.

Actually, him signing is what we would want. He was not a FA. We didn't want, IMO, to trade for him, and have him leave after one year.I heard on the radio he signed for 11/330. So, he's off the table.
Was just tryna take a pot shot at a douchebag, but if y’all want to dive in have at it.Agreed. He's pretty much just put lipstick on a pig. Kinda like Sleepy Joe.
I don’t think they’re going to sign him to that contract just to trade him for peanuts. Red Sox fans would revolt.Actually, him signing is what we would want. He was not a FA. We didn't want, IMO, to trade for him, and have him leave after one year.
If it's 11/330, that's $30mm/yr AAV, more than Correaberg was going to get. Too high. I would only consider trading for him now if the player price was pretty low - like Yaz and say, Harrison, plus maybe a mid-level prospect.
But I'm concerned about his fitness, as in him being Son of Panda. And he ain't all that on D. So, IMO, pass.
Oh, I agree. I was just looking at it from our side to see what might be acceptable. There could have been a contract (smaller) and a player ask (fair and reasonable) that could have worked for us as a trade, theoretically. But not now.I don’t think they’re going to sign him to that contract just to trade him for peanuts. Red Sox fans would revolt.
Speaking of the Mets, things have been pretty quiet on the Correa (non) signing. I wonder what is going on with that deal? And the Conforto deal the Giants made as well. It is still not official. And 7 days after the LaStella dfa, he's still hanging out in limbo.Oh, I agree. I was just looking at it from our side to see what might be acceptable. Of course, the Mets may now be interested. LOL
While I don’t blame the Giants, sounds like they did “try” to land Judge, and the Correa thing seems to be significant, it’s hard to say they have had a “solid” off-season. I’d say we have had a decent at best offseason. I didn’t hear much of us going after Xander or Dansby, and if money was no object, we should have been right there. We also lost Rodon and who knows how much he will play or how effective Conforto will be? At this point, seems like we more just rearranged musical chairs than anything of significance. But who knows, I never thought that 107 win team would win even 90 games, so who knows?Jim Bowden in the Athletic today:
The Giants have had a solid offseason, even though they lost out on Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa in free agency despite strong offers. They signed outfielders Mitch Haniger and Michael Conforto and added three quality major-league pitchers — Sean Manaea, Ross Stripling and Taylor Rogers — on multiyear contracts. They would like to add more impact players, which they tried to do with Judge and Correa, but at this point might have to wait until the trade deadline or next offseason to accomplish that.
We turned Rodon into Manaea and Strippling. That hurts the top of the rotation, but it really helps the depth. And with all the resting and injuries that we have seen in the starters over the last few years, that MIGHT be a net benefit. While I don’t blame the Giants, sounds like they did “try” to land Judge, and the Correa thing seems to be significant, it’s hard to say they have had a “solid” off-season.
