When the signing of Sean Manaea becomes official, the Giants will have an estimated payroll of $162.5M against the cap according to Cots. This puts them roughly $70.5M below the $233M CBT threshold. The number of teams willing to max out their payroll grows larger every year. In the big picture, that is a good thing for MLB as a whole. Just not so good for us (in those years we seek to do so).
They had a payroll of $173M and $171M against the cap in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
