Eagle fans for sure.

I went back and read the 2000 post Dak thread. Dallas fans didn't claim top 5 in the league.
That's 100% correct. The back and forth here was whether or not Dallas should pay $40M per for a good but not great QB. Philly has gone straight delusional, trying to make Hurts out to be better than anyone but Mahomes. Hell, if they had won the Super Bowl they would have been favorably comparing him to Brady. Hurts looks real good with the best roster in the NFL around him. Once he gets paid, starts losing talent around him, and making "business decisions" on how often he runs, we'll see how that works out

Dallas is trying to reduce Smith’s $17.6M cap number. Attached to the NFL’s longest-running contract, Dallas’ left tackle is finally near the end of that eight-year pact. Two void years are already on Smith’s contract, limiting the Cowboys’ options with their 12-year tackle. The team is trying to keep Smith in the fold for a 13th season.

Needing to get under the salary cap by next week, the Dallas Cowboys created about $30 million in room on Friday by restructuring the contracts of quarterback Dak Prescott and right guard Zack Martin.
I wouldn't have done it, but fully expected the Jones boys to. On the upside hopefully we spend, spend, spend in FA this year

restructure keeps him at 2 years but we both know in order to spend, extension is required.

the eagle coach got me thinking. Maybe I die soon....spend the money JERRY.
Start with Bobby Wagner.

Exactly. If the club is going to go out and spend the money needed to make this club a real contender, then restructure all you want. But if Stephen plans to go into the season with his "powder dry" and extra cap space, then screw that

I agree. Makes no sense to not go all out this year.

restructure at this time.
about 14M under at this time.
6 or 7M needed for the rookie class.
we need more money if we plan a splash addition in FA.
I was hoping we extended Martin for cap space. But oh well. Not to concerned with him either way.

the Last decade has shown us the Cowboys are absolutely not going to sign any big name free agents. none. Zero.

BUT…If I know Jerry the way I think I do, I’m going to predict AT LEAST one big signing and it’s coming in the first couple of days of free agency if not the first day. The reason: We all know Jerry has rabbit ears and reacts to what else is going on and the criticism he has taken the last month for never doing anything and “going for it” combined with that strategy leading to success in the league the last couple of years is not something his pride can take with reacting. I’d say one big free agent (or trade) is a given and two is possible and I’ll even say more likely than not. Stephen is probably out of his mind right now trying to keep Jerry from looking into every big free agent out there. I just hope they don’t make a foolish decision and pick the right guy. Go get a star. Don’t overpay for a JAG.

the other possibility is we strike out again and then sign a couple of our own guys and try to seek the narrative that we did sign a couple big players and that signing our own is like signing a free agent. But, I’m sticking with at least one big signing

I’d love to see us sign Hargrave and give us that disruptive DT we haven’t had in a while. He is probably my top choice. I’d also love to see Lavonte David or Wagner to solidify our run defense. There really isn’t a WR I’d go after in free agency which is where I think a trade becomes an option and we are already hearing some rumors there. I think this is possible because Gallup‘s contract is cuttable after this year and CeeDee won’t get a deal this off-season. So we won’t have 3 high paid guys at that position at the same time even if we bring in a guy like Diggs or Hopkins. I also don’t expect Schultz back so we need to fill that hole in the receiving corps.

I would just love to see this team go into the draft with another stud or two on the roster and without a huge weak spot they are forced to address. If we could do that and keep our first round pick I’d really be excited to see what kind of roster they could put together And might even finally buy into the off-season hype I read about each year.

they need to be 30 to 35M under to do something big. Another 15 to 20M needed to be large in FA

I'd like to keep Wilson
I think Wilson was fantastic last year and would like to keep him also. But seeing as it is kind of a position of strength for us now (imagine saying that about safety) I’d be fine moving on IF it meant bringing in a player at a position where we are weaker. If we don’t bring in a top notch LB we need to keep Wilson because he and Kearse kind of help out filling that hybrid role.

what if this was our defense:

Tank, Hankins, Hargrave, Micah
Lavonte David, LVE, Clark
Diggs, Hooker, Kearse, Bland/Lewis
