I think in this offense where you have a lot of slants and crosses instead of option routes and in cuts, Turpin would put a lot of pressure on the defense. Get that little dude the ball on the move and he would at least make the DC have to account for his speed
If we get Vaughn, there would be no need for Turpin in this offense.

Cowboys just invested 10 million in Pollard. I think he fits the WC offense very well

West Coast Offense.
TO ME, that means one/two decision and the ball out of the hand quickly. This also means yards after catch. I've said before, a veteran & draft pick are needed and, a year two flashing from Tolbert. Turpin said he's been told he will be involved in the passing game. Five maybe 6 pass catchers along with a drafted TE to pair with the two rookies. Add another big play space guy type at runningback.

Short version review:
Multiple playmakers
Yards after Touch.
Cut down passing game decisions and get the ball out.
That's why I am so excited about the new scheme. Dak had a ton of picks, but several were apparently missed reads by receivers on option routes. I think anything that simplifies decision making for the QB and makes routes clear cut for pass catchers will cut down on turnovers as well as sacks, no matter who was at fault

This is the rub, 3rd team RB'S play ST's. Love Vaughn, but Turpin returns kicks here.

Still want play makers, ankle breaker type guys. Could we live with both?
Vaughn would back up Tony. Zeke cut.

it's going to happen.
This is about as sure as it gets with Jerry.
Sadly I agree for being an alleged gambler Jerry sure the hell does not show It much anymore. FA cutting players before they are past expiration etc. Sucking it up and letting Dak play for the 49 millionish this year gives you options going forward. I’m not hating on Dak but he has shown so far to be middle of the pack to a little better than that. Danny White took us to the NFC championship game 3 times and Cowboys fans thought he sucked for years, we have never got out of the 2nd round with Dak. Good man solid leader great in the community good locker room leader a little better than averages overall as a NFL QB. Not saying you can’t win a SB with Dak as QB but IMO you damn sure have to have the exact right supporting cast.
Issue is can or will Jerry put that team around him.

I don't know. all my years of watching football and I haven't seen many NFL QB's who didn't need "exact right supporting cast". I get it, Dak played his worst ball last season. Twenty-eight years of not getting out of the second round. OH, and Danny had of heck of a supporting cast of players, coach and ownership. He didn't ever suck, SHIT, you know this, Meredith sucked so bad according to the Dallas football fans he left the game. He was only accepted in Dallas cause of the Monday night football success.

I want this team to do everything possible to win playoff games now, today, this season. I give a rats ass about future cap ramifications. Sports is about winning, advancing in the playoffs and years ago, the Cowboys were the poster child for all that.

Your right on Dandy Don I always thought Danny never got the praise he deserved. Cowboys fans were so spoiled with Roger then Danny had to follow.Biggest spotlight in the NFL on being the QB in Dallas.
Im Just really tired of the failures in the playoffs Dallas used to be the example of how it’s done now we kinda resemble the how not to get it done. Don’t know the answers I just know I don’t have the time for another 28 years of failure

We want the same thing Colors.
Just not sure asking Dak to prove it and not strengthen the roster cause of last season is what this team should do.

Are we sure Hurts is all that? I mean the general board has him as great after one season and 50M per.

I will say this till I die:
NFL football is a week to week league and most certainly year to year.

I not sure it’s right either on Dak just providing options maybe or diluting an already diluted roster ……. Just frustrating. Oh I am not 100% sold on hurts I did want Dallas the draft him if he was available in the 3rd if I recall right & was way wrong on draft day & not the first or last.. the Jones boy have not been good at adding super talent in FA since Sanders got snapped from the 9ers.
A little luck no injuries and we could be right in it but then the #%€£¥ing Devil Shows up with that damn deal Jerry signed in blood and everything goes to Hell
Draft can’t get here soon enough long ways before camp starts for the 2023 season :)

I don't care how they do it. We need a stud opposite of CD. Hopkins would be my pick. When you have two studs, it opens up so much. The defense cannot just double CD.
:markmay:

Hopkins alluded earlier this week to his potential new home in Dallas. On an Instagram Live stream with former Cowboy Dez Bryant, Hopkins remarked "What's happening? I keep hearing y'all say my name around here. What's up? Talk to me."

The Cowboys already have CeeDee Lamb, who appears capable of becoming a franchise player for years to come.

But the 23-year-old could use a stronger supporting cast, and the opportunity to play alongside a modern great like Hopkins would massively beneficial to Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott alike.

Hopkins is under contract for the next two seasons, making $19.45 million in 2023. The Arizona Cardinals' reported asking price for him is at least one second round draft pick.

For the considerable lift he'd provide to the Cowboys, that price tag may prove reasonable to Jerry Jones and company.

:grouphug:

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Cowboys are planning to bring Smith back for a 13th season with the team. Sources tell Fowler that the Cowboys and Smith could agree to a reworked contract, likely in an effort to reduce Smith's cap number.

Smith is currently set to make $13.6 million in the final year of his contract.

Alleviating some of the salary cap pressures would be a big help for a Cowboys team that will need to make adjustments to keep its core.

A reworked contract for quarterback Dak Prescott is also a priority for Dallas, mostly to ensure that they can pursue other top-dollar free agents to improve the team.

Dallas placed the franchise tag on running back Tony Pollard prior to the deadline. Pollard, a rising star, looks to be the team's running back of the future and a player they want to sign long-term.

Now that I think about it. It would have been nice to have traded for Riddley. What a steal the Jaguars got for a fifth and a second in 2024.

I tend to agree. They got to free up cap space to add pieces. Likely that means Dak gets extended soon. Dak was a disappointment. Some of that was him missing the first 1/4 of the season .

I hope Hurts hold out and gets paid. It could backfire on the Eagles. You got some that are putting Hurts up there with Mahomes. Lol

The way they designed his deal, they really have no choice. They need the cap space, and further, unless we are going to draft a QB in rounds 1 or 2, you can't let Dak play this year and be 1 year away from UFA with no trade and no tag clauses. If Dak and his agent have proven anything its that they are after the max amount of money he can make, and there is every chance they would lose him with no compensation but a comp pick the following year
