Funny thing is, I think that might be enough compensation to get that deal done. The Rams are way over the cap and Ramsey has a cap hit of like 25 million. I think they would prefer a 2nd and 5th to 2nd and Joseph. But the deal really makes no sense for Dallas. They are going to give huge raises to Lamb, Steele and Diggs the next two years and then break the bank on Micah. Add in Dak's salary and there's no way to add a player making that amount, which is why I think OBJ isn't coming here either
I’m not giving up anything for Ramsey unless he is playing for a way lower salary CB can be found in the draft or in FA to fill the hold over while draft picks develop. I think we missed on Joseph because of his attitude to not learn talent showed in college but a miss on him unless he all of the sudden the light bulb goes off. Cowboys will show us on Dak if they will be pretenders going forward if they touch his contract.

One thing Cowboys got right was not resigning Byron Jones. Teams need to pay attention when the Cowboys don't re sign their own first round picks. Dolphins paid a huge price.

I have to disagree. With our pass rush if we added an elite CB like Ramsey and a tackling LB our defense would be the elite defense some proclaimed it to be at points last season. With the Rams OL issues I wonder if they have interest in Tyron plus a pick

Another vet option is Patrick Peterson. I thought he was done but he played really well last year. Getting up there in age of course, but wouldn't likely cost too much I suspect

Peterson is getting a little long in the tooth but you’re correct he played well last year hell Newmon played 6 years after the Boys thought he was done so on a 1 year deal sure. Ramsey still has the ability but his $$$ is prohibitive IMO. Who know how the Jones will approach it we shall see in a short few weeks.

The Dallas media proclaimed the defense elite. The players bought in....none more than Diggs. That since of entitlement still haunts this team. Thank You Jerry.

I would consider Diggs for Ramsey but no way both on this team.

Add Parsons & Lawrence and boy...talk about entitlement.

One championship first please, before we add primetime. I don't think I can support Ramsy in Dallas.

the one other bonus of adding a Vet that has played awesome in the past is. He can help a bunch of young DBs in ways that cant be done when you only have young DBs. For a decent price I would like this option.

I really think next year might be a special year. We have a lot of talent coming into their own. We need another draft like last season and a couple of weapons on offense. I wouldn't mind seeing us trade up instead of down for once. There is a RB and a couple of WRs in this draft that will be gone by the time we draft that could help us
I think the Cowboys need to pick an offensive lineman or DT with pick 26.

One position where the Cowboys got burnt was the kicker . They need to try and sign a reliable vet as soon as possible. I admit I never trusted Maher. He obviously did well until the last regular season game. It was that game where the "bad" Maher showed up. Those missed extra points were a disgrace

Stephen talking McCarthy today:
"Obviously he's the head coach of this football team, and he made a compelling argument that making him the playcaller was going to help us," Jones said. "I mean that's part of the coaching, be one click better. He feels good about it. He's had a lot of success as a playcaller. And he's observed for three years. I think he's been a super leader in that aspect in terms of having the respect for Kellen and the offensive group working with Dak, that that was the better way of doing it. I think he believes now, although they believe in a lot of things the same, there's that 15-20% that they don't. And I think that Mike just thinks that they'll do more with the way he wants to do it [and] that we'll be a better offensive football team."
Jones believes there will be a noticeable change in the offense, especially considering the Cowboys were largely in the same system from 2007 to
'22." I just think it's some of it's the fundamentals, how you block it, how you coordinate and marry the run game to the pass game, what your pass game is philosophically, what your run game is philosophically," Jones said. "... I think people will notice. Now, we've been a good offensive football team. That's the scary part. But we just hadn't been able to make the plays when it got right down to it in the playoffs."

Like Mike had a choice when taking the job? The Jones boys had Moore as flavor of the year when Garrett was let go.
Mike wanted the job. :noidea:
Now Mike says, if I'm going down, I want to call the plays. Funny...now the Jones boys see the merit?
Least the Jones boys are learning only playoffs matter.

Stephen talking Dak contract and 2023 today:

Prescott is set to count $49.2 million against the 2023 salary cap. He is signed through 2024. If the Cowboys restructure Prescott's contract this year, they can create up to $22 million in cap space. With an extension, they could create even more room.
"We've got to have a plan to ultimately extend Dak," Jones said.

Jones believes the Cowboys have a high-level defense highlighted by coordinator Dan Quinn, edge player Micah Parsons, cornerback Trevon Diggs and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. On offense, they have questions either through the cap or free agency that they have to answer, with the likes of running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, tackle Tyron Smith and tight end Dalton Schultz.

"Offensively, we've just got to have, maybe add a playmaker to it," Jones said. "Add a little juice. Add a playmaker to it and see if we can do that."

the Jones boys are always two years behind what most fans see in this team.

The longer away from 95 we get the more Jimmys greatness stands out. Jerry has ceded kinda the GM job to McClay except the FA part.
On Dak if the restructure I don’t think we will sniff a NFC Championship game I hope I’m 100% wrong

Lot of botched contracts and bad decisions by this front office. I look at the Amari situation and just shake my head. The issue is these fools don't ever just know when to shut their pie holes. A fifth round pick for Amari? That all they could get? Any other team gets a better pick because the other teams do not run their mouths to the media 24/7.

Found my round 1 wish DB for 2023. Most likely gone 5 picks before 26. May go before Joey Porter.

Brian Branch Bama Jr.
6'0 195

Branch was a playmaking slot cornerback for the Tide. He is outstanding against the run, quick to key and fill for tackles. He can use his quickness to slip blocks and make plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage, as well. He is also an outstanding blitzer, showing timing and burst to generate pressure. He is fluid in coverage and consistently stays in phase with his man. There are times when he gets out-muscled at the catch point, but he's rarely out of position. He has taken some reps on the outside, but doesn't look as comfortable there. He's just better in the middle of the action. He is excellent on special teams, collecting tackles on kick coverage and possessing the ability to return punts if needed (see: his return TD vs. Louisiana-Monroe). Overall, Branch is an immediate starter at nickel and provides value on all four downs.

Strengths
  • Football intelligence is through the roof.
  • Has range and instincts to play single-high safety.
  • Fast, fluid and very strong for his size.
  • Pedals and transitions with smooth, agile feet.
  • Able to mirror and match patterns from off-man.
  • Reactive quickness and burst to hound the route.
  • Uses ballhawking angles and explosive burst to undercut the pass.
  • Reads receiver’s eyes to cue his head turn downfield.
  • Attacks blockers of all sizes with consistent tenacity.
  • Diagnoses run and pursues runner with proper leverage and angles.
Weaknesses
  • Small delay in finding first gear at the top of his drop.
  • Could use tighter route squeeze relative to down and distance.
  • Becomes a drag-down tackler when coming in too high.
  • Occasionally outflanked as run defender from the slot.

We need to sit tight on Dak after last season. I would not extend and would draft a QB in first three rounds. I would likely cut Zeke though a tough decision unless he is willing to play for 2-3 million. RBs can be found in rounds 4-7 and Davis can be a ballet. They will sign Pollard but not sure I would if we have Steele back, a great oline and get some speed at inning back in the draft. We need strong DTs and a corner and to make life easier for Dak another wide receiver. - should have never let Cooper go and overpaid for Gallup off his injury. Team will need to address safety and back up tackle or right tackle if can’t get a good deal with Smith.
