I hope we snag up one of these post june 1 cut veterans on the o line…giddy up. Kennys gonna take a jump
We have almost as many TEs on the roster as LBs..... Deadly with an offensive line of TEs???
Heyward is a FB/TE mix and when compared to Gentry, at least Heyward has a freaking receiving TD, something Gentry doesn't have in 4 years. But with Pat and now Washington, not only will Heyward probably be used for blocking or for FB, but Gentry won't have a spot on the roster, IMO. Only way I'd keep Gentry on the roster is if Washington isn't ready to go by Week 1.Heyward really isn’t a TE and Gentry isn’t Washington so it is a huge upgrade.

The position we are really gonna have to cut down on is WR. We currently have 12 on the roster. So, maybe Johnson, Pickens, Boykin, Austin, Robinson and either Gunner or Anthony Miller?
And per what I read Jordan Byrd wasn't a WR at SDSU, he was rotataional RB and return specialist. If he does well in training camp I see a roster spot for him. So not sure why the Steelers listed him as WR, but they have their reasons.View attachment 327415
5 TEs vs. 12 LBs
Also, we are gonna have to narrow down our WR room. Austin, Boykin, Johnson, Pickens and Robinson all get in with no injuries, IMO, right? Then down to Miller and Gunner?
If he does this in the NFL, he is going to be a beast for a long time.I've been having a good time watching 0's blocking videos.
This is a really nice one.
My god if he can stay healthy, we have a monster on our hands!I've been having a good time watching 0's blocking videos.

- New Steelers tight end Darnell Washington experienced a bit of a slide in the draft this weekend. The former-Georgia Bulldog had a first- to second-round grade going into the Thursday with many expecting him to be the fourth or fifth tight end off the board. Especially after a run of tight ends started in the second round, it was surprising not to hear Washington’s name called. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, injuries were the reason for the slide. Washington’s knee was a concern, but reportedly, there were other things on his medical that contributed to teams’ hesitancy, as well. The scout giving this information also called the slide “laughable,” asserting that he expects Washington to play for a long time in the NFL.
Any buzz to any of these guys?
None that I am aware of outside of Byrd could become a returner. The QB and K are just insurance on the practice squad.Any buzz to any of these guys?
Seems like this guy could be something...None that I am aware of outside of Byrd could become a returner. The QB and K are just insurance on the practice squad.
Overall grade: A+
The Steelers had the best draft in the NFL. It can credibly be said that they acquired four starter-level players with their first four picks. Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones, Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and Wisconsin defensive tackle Keeanu Benton all have the potential to be long-term starters. Washington gives the Steelers a young thunder-and-lighting type of tight end duo as they pair him with Pat Freiermuth. Even getting someone like Purdue cornerback Cory Trice in the seventh round was great value given his pre-draft profile — he has the potential to stick on the roster. The Steelers didn’t overthink it, plugged a lot of needs with quality talent and found value in the seventh round as well. It’s impossible to hate what they did over the draft weekend.
I haaaaate mullets.
