Salary Cap implications...

Since they already released him this offseason they incurred a dead hit of $3m. His new contract has $0 dead hit and his retirement only saves roughly $850k. Which brings his total cap hit closer to $2.15m.

After Melvin Ingram signed & Vince's retirement the Steelers should be sitting somewhere around $11m in cap space.

Not sure they would claim him off waivers, but honestly I would. I like what he bring to the table moreso than Cassius Marsh. Or he can simply provide better competition over camp-bodies like Jamir Jones or Jamar Watson.
