Looking around the league for potential roster bubble TEs, I came across an article on the Broncos. They are apparently loaded at the position, and just drafted Noah’s Fant. Jeff Heuerman & Jake Butt look like afterthoughts suddenly. Good upside for depth pieces if they suddenly become available in August/Sept.

Oh...IDK they drafted Fant….I felt like they would be scouring the waiver wire or looking to make a deal...DEN might be willing to part with one of them for a late round pick.

I don’t know... since it’s really just a search for a depth piece right now, I think standing pat & waiting for roster cuts to start would be the most pertinent move. At least with looking at the current cap lol. If an injury occurs in TC or preseason, then yea I’d get on the horn around the league.

Cameron Brate could be a good grab from Mr Arians down in Tampa. OJ Howard has completely overshadowed him and Brate is no slouch. He’s a well-rounded TE

Agreed...there's no reason to make a move yet. Typically of Colbert/Tomlin unless he just stinks it up in camp, Grimble will be the TE2.

Yep. And i’ll never understand the love this staff has for Grimble. Hard worker, but very limited player.

I am still shocked they never gave Bucky Hodges another opportunity. Cut him right before the draft if memory serves me correctly.

Looks like Tarzan coming off the bus, I don't want to say he plays like Jane, but he definitely doesn't play like you would think to see the man! Given they're not looking for a starter, he might be end up being the TE2, but if a better option ends up on the market somehow, I think they will make a move... Grimble hasn't done anything that we can see on the field to warrant a $2 mil cap hit....if he does make the squad, all I can say is spend it wisely young man!

I never even got to see what Hodges was all about.

Hodges... Basing most of my belief on what I saw from him as a hokie. Great potential. He even briefly flashed it once or twice in the preseason last year. Good routes & blocking ability. To me he seemed like he had more promise as a prospect than Grimble ever had. But his stint was too brief for the coaches to get a good enough look. He had barely had the playbook for maybe 3 weeks (signed mid TC just before the 1st preseason game) before he was waived & put on the practice squad to be a scout team guy all year.

At his size, he'll get picked up if he hasn't already.

Another baffling decision to release him considering the lack of depth at the position and being able to carry 90 players right now.

I don’t think he has. But at this point in the offseason most rosters are set and whomever remains unsigned will need an injury to get a call. Unless your Gerald McCoy or Eric Berry.

WR Diontae Spencer Seems To Be The 'Winner' Of OTAs - Steelers Depot

We've heard about OTA standouts before...Is this CFL product, the next diamond in the rough WR? Plenty fast. Lot of pressure mounting for Rogers and Washington. Washington is going to get a real shot to be the WR2 outside...will he be able to keep that role?
Definitely feels like Rogers is at risk here. But if the other Diontae (Johnson) prevails as a return specialist then it could put Switz on the chopping block as well. Don’t see that happening but a thought to chew on. As it is now, this is how I see the WR room:

1. Juju
2. Crief
3. Washington
4. Switzer
5. Johnson
6. Rogers/Spencer

Rogers could definitely vault himself up the depth chart, but right now he has quite the uphill battle.

With the connection Ben made in a short time with Switzer I think he's pretty safe. Spencer...As Tomlin often says, let's see what they look like when we get pads on.

Curious why so many teams are passing up on Berry? He was back to full health, no? Im guessing price tag is uber high.

Berry...money and health.

He signed that big extension in '17, but you gotta go back to the '16 season to find a year that he's had a significant snap count season. He's basically has been cashing large checks and little else the last 2 years.

Assuming he's healthy, if he brings his price down he'll get a gig.
