Come on man! We got Cashner on the cheap and stats say he was our best pitcher. He is projected as one of the more coveted FA pitching. Obviously behind Darvish but the money will lag far behind. Do you think that Darvish will command only 18 million? Clubs pay more for one year contracts Fact. That is ludicrous to think we could get Darvish For 18 million and we overpaid last year for Cashner. Done Ha SMH.
yeap 11-11, 166.2 innings, 386 SO, 64 W and 1.32 WHIP makes him worth 10M and our best pitcher for 2017 and makes worthy of a QO of 18M. i guess i expect more from our best pitcher and an starter earning 18M

and of course Darvish is going to get more the point is when you go 18M or more that Cashner doesn't belong in the conversation.

I read somewhere that there is supposed to be a 12:30 Rangers press conference today, but now I can't find anything about it. So there may or may not be a press conference today discussing the season.

If it comes down to spending $18 million on Cashner or $26 million per year on Darvish then I would go with Darvish. It isn't clear though if one has anything to do with the other. To me Otani and Darvish are priorities and then Alex Cobb.

To me there was never a question as to if the Rangers were going into rebuild mode or not. Rebuilding will probably never be an option for JD unless we have 3 or 4 freakish career-ending injuries all close together to major contributors. The only thing about that is JD has never proven that he can build a WS championship caliber team without rebuilding to a certain degree.

it comes down for 2018 if JD and the owners will be willing to spend the money to redo the starting rotation and add arms to the pen.

JD has pretty much stated that. Just haven't been specific on who.

I've wondered where this team would be today if:
1, Beltre had not been injured
2. Gomez had not been injured
3. Odor had not failed to live up to his contract
4. Dyson and pig pen had not failed and cost us, I believe , 21 games
5. Napoli failing all around.
6. AJ's injury
That's a lot of bad luck for a team to encounter that was built to contend. But all of those things are a huge factor in any game. Time to lick our wounds and move on and we will. With who is not known but most of us have been filling in the blanks.

I guess it was all the bullpen coach's fault.

Maybe the insurance policy for Prince changes after being injured this long.

Beltre and Gomez are just that though. One is too old to stay healthy and one is unproven at best so not too much should have been expected out of either one.

Odor is only good in stretches and he has been that way for awhile. It was a mistake to gibe him the contract.

Napoli is at that age where our bodies start to fail us.

A bullpen pitcher is going to have ups and downs. You have to have a manager who realizes that and who is willing to change out pieces quicker than Banny did.

Even if a lot more had broken right for us we would probably still be no closer than the Twins right now.

Not everyone can be in the WS. Some will fall short and you can't say we would have had things fallen better.

A lot of pitching coaches let go. Could be bullpen coach. Wish we had A guy of Wash caliber to help Odor be better defensively. Bogar has been let go
