I think this is called a nightmare.
Let me try again. Sorry I was not clear. My thought was not to say we would have won anything. If most of the lost saves were divided evenly among the rotation, the w vs l would look much different. Now throw in risp failures and you get a much broader scope of evaluations. Seems to me it was much more little things to be considered which might be a better way to go than throwing $$$$ at pitching when we may be better than thought. Basicly Hamel Perez and Cashner imo fit pretty well and pick up Yu or Ohtani and fix avg.obp and risp and play ball. Basic evaluation is my point and not just seeing how much to spend on pitching.

I like optimism.:-) But that was a solid post.

If Rangers and Bush are committed to him starting then he is a number 5 slot with AJ and nick as minor/long reliever options to pitch in case of injury. That means you only have to pick up 2 major league starters but to me you still need guys in minors who at least project to pitch in majors this coming year.

So really what we need is to have a list of 10 guys on the 40 man or at least ready for activation if needed. Guys like Dutch will be picked up for at least depth.

1. Signing
2. Hamels
3. Signing/Perez
4. Perez/Signing
5. Bush or Mendez
6. AJ
7. Minor league contract
8. N Martinez
9. ST minor league standout I.e. Jurado
10. Minor league contract or

Mendez would have to make some very big improvements over the winter to even be considered as anything other than an emergency big league starter I would think.

Keep Tyler Davis in mind to impress in ST though.

Maybe at some point next year Jonathan Hernandez and Jeffrey Springs work their way into the picture as well if they are as impressive at Frisco as they were for Down East. That is a big "if" though.

if I'm not mistaken, the Rangers do not have any.
Not putting words into his mouth, but I think he was implying that we need to pick up some minor league pitchers along the way somehow.

We should have had Sadzeck, Mendez and Jurado all ready to project into the rotation, but our development of starting pitchers is lacking in a big way. I think some of those guys in charge of that should have been replaced before our bullpen coach actually.

I have heard Mendez or Juardo has a shot but nothing else is reasonably expected. Yes. I think we need to sign pitchers to minor league contracts.
