Holy shit!
Holy shit!
do we pick up Napoli's 11M option or let him walk & pay him 2.5M?
Nope. Let both of them walk.do we pick up Napoli's 11M option or let him walk & pay him 2.5M? do we pick up Barnett's 4M option? if we do both that ties up 102.333M of the 155M JD says will be our target budget. that leave 52.667M to cover our arbitration cases, whatever Prince will cost us and any free agents that we might sign. assuming Prince will cost us between 9-11M that leaves us between 41.667-43.667M. assuming we sign our arbitration/team controlled MLB-level players(11 by my count) to 2018 salaries of a combined 10-12M that would leave us around 39 to 42M to fill 3 starter, 2 relief and possibly 1 of postitions. if they offer Cashner the QO of 18.1M and he accepts it we are left with between 20.9 and 23.9M for the rest of our needs. JD and his team have their work cut out for them.
Not by any means defending our pitching but these numbers had a lot to do with negative reflections on the rotation. This must be addressed. May have kept us out of the post season.378 Ks against 39 walks in 424.2 IP

yes i am. why do you ask? think of it as a poll. yes or no. i would imagine that JD and his team are asking that same question trying to figure out if Napoli will return physically and be able to produce. i say let him walkAre you serious?
Nobody wants him back.yes i am. why do you ask? think of it as a poll. yes or no. i would imagine that JD and his team are asking that same question trying to figure out if Napoli will return physically and be able to produce. i say let him walk

hope you are rightI imagine that they are spending zero time asking that question. Napoli is gone, gone, gone.
no problem. just misunderstood your phrasingI imagine that they are spending zero time asking that question. Napoli is gone, gone, gone.
(don't mean to come off like a dick if I am)
I don't pick up Napoli's option if were me, but JD and I don't always feel the same way. I think it might be premature to think the Rangers braintrust might not value Napoli's veteran leadership a lot more than we do. I suspect they let him walk, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.do we pick up Napoli's 11M option or let him walk & pay him 2.5M? do we pick up Barnett's 4M option? if we do both that ties up 102.333M of the 155M JD says will be our target budget. that leave 52.667M to cover our arbitration cases, whatever Prince will cost us and any free agents that we might sign. assuming Prince will cost us between 9-11M that leaves us between 41.667-43.667M. assuming we sign our arbitration/team controlled MLB-level players(11 by my count) to 2018 salaries of a combined 10-12M that would leave us around 39 to 42M to fill 3 starter, 2 relief and possibly 1 of postitions. if they offer Cashner the QO of 18.1M and he accepts it we are left with between 20.9 and 23.9M for the rest of our needs. I know it is Japan, but that is still amazing isn't it.378 Ks against 39 walks in 424.2 IP

My bad. Thought this was our offense numbers. Not by any means defending our pitching but these numbers had a lot to do with negative reflections on the rotation. This must be addressed. May have kept us out of the post season.
just don't see anyway that another team or teams takes on either Choo or Odor. one because of major issues with contract and physical problems that limit him to virtually nothing but DH with limited RF service and the other because of his medocre defense and at the plate discipline. Hamels now you are giving 1 quality starter on the presumption that you might get 2 what are the odds? unless you got the 2 first you would be making a huge gambleI don't pick up Napoli's option if were me, but JD and I don't always feel the same way. I hate giving up the conditional pick, but I don't think we can take a chance that Cashner costs us $18 million next year.
The Barnette decision is the toughest for me.
I still like the idea of trading Hamels so we can go after Otani and Darvish. Whatever we have to do to be rid of half of Choo's contract would help as well. Replacing Odor's contract with Profar's would help financially as well. That would give enough financial flexibility to sign the starters we need and to go after a closer.
With the love affair many in baseball have with OBP someone just might take Choo off of our hands. It wouldn't be an easy task to accomplish by any means though. I think Odor is young enough that someone is going to be willing to take a chance on him and think if he pans out that contract would be a plus. That is if they don't have to give up much to get him.just don't see anyway that another team or teams takes on either Choo or Odor. one because of major issues with contract and physical problems that limit him to virtually nothing but DH with limited RF service and the other because of his medocre defense and at the plate discipline. All I am saying regarding Hamels is if we are able to sign Otani and Darvish I would be fine with them trading Hamels to help financially To try and get those things done in reverse order would give the wrong signals about not rebuilding I would think.
it's almost 11-1. Absurd.
