Give me Foster or Morris behind our line and it might turn out well.....
If we had Foster and Romo we would be looking like a SB team after 3 or 4 weeks...Problem is we'd be looking like last year after about 5 weeks when they both go out for the year!!! If Foster would come reasonably cheap I'd look at him.

We knew this was coming

David Helman reports that the Dallas Cowboys are restructuring LT Tyron Smith‘s contract in a move that will free up $7.2 million in available cap space.

Previous reports had said that Smith was a candidate to have his contract reworked this offseason, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Smith, 25, signed a ten-year, $109 million contract tat included $40 million guaranteed. He was set to make base salaries of $10 million from 2016 to 2020 as part of this agreement.

In 2015, Smith appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 2 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.

Why aren't we tied to Reggie Nelson? Seems like his price is dropping.

Chris Long?
Good one. Probably the most likely "name" guy if something is going to happen in the next few days.

Reading they are looking at Nolan Carroll too, but not sure he would require the extra money...

If Dallas goes out and signs a guy like Long, after the injury riddled season we just had, I'll just be pretty damn pissed off. They let most/all the perceived impact guys be signed before we decide to dip our toe in the water? There does not seem to be much of a cohesive plan of direction this off season, other than to hold serve and hope for the best in the draft. Thornton was a nice pickup, I think. I'm on the fence with bringing back McClain, between his injuries and lack of motivation to stay engaged for a full season, I'm just not sure that was 5 million well spent. All told, this team has done nothing to move the needle.

Dallas better nail it in the draft.

perhaps the cohesive plan is to hold serve through the first week to 10 days by signing their own and picking up a guy like Thornton. Maybe their holding out for the June 1st cuts, maybe their about to add a RB or even a QB. Who knows?

as to McClain...it's 4M if he doesn't meet the requirements. The only risk to that kinda money is if he has another dirty drug test, otherwise...it's smart to bet the come line here.

nothing has changed with regards to this coming draft. Three strong contributors with two working in as starters remains the requirement. I think that's very doable and maybe we land another as well as a QB prospect.

I'm keeping the faith!

Cowboys hosting Dashon Goldson and Leon Hall. A couple of guys that could certainly play in our secondary

Wow, NE trades DE Chandler Jones to Arizona for OG Jonathan Cooper. I might have given up La'el Collins for Jones.....

They got back a second rounder too. That is a shrewd move by the evil empire. As long as they can keep bringing in the talent, they maximize their draft picks. Cooper was the top OG in that draft, but has been injured and somewhat of a disappointment.

I wouldn't. He's very cheap, and may be ProBowl material already.
Plus Jones gets chased by Dragons.

While I get your point, the key to Long is his salary demand isn't that of the "impact guys". Hell yeah I'll be pissed if they give Long the same $8-$9M per year Mario Williams and "Snacks" Williams got or God forbid the $17M the other couple of guys got. But if he gets a 2 year $8M contract (or less) where is the problem? It's as much about who you get as it is how much you give them. I think we waited on purpose to see what falls. If we gave Vernon the deal he got I would be so over the top pissed off and stating how it will screw us for years to come. Doesn't mean I don't like the player...
