Wait, Long didn't sign with NE?
That was probably an old article that he posted. Long was expected to visit here, but now it seems he will sign with NE

Someone doesnt have their info correct, I'm guessing its's Hill, not surprising.

Patriots' Chris Long: Signs one-year deal with Patriots

by RotoWire Staff |
Long will sign a one-year contract with the Patriots, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.

With Chandler Jones being shipped to the Cardinals, the Patriots needed some additional help on the defensive line, so they've opted to sign Long to a one-year deal. Long spent the first eight years of his career with the Rams and is coming off a campaign in which he posted 19 tackles and three sacks. He'll have to battle in training camp for the right to open the season as a starter.

When I posted it the article had been updated 3 mins prior, Hill just probably posted an old headline, which had the Hall report on it too, but he didnt remove Long from the report?

  • Clarence Hill mentions that the Cowboys are still in the market for a quality starting running back, but admits they may have to look to the draft to get a true No. 1 running back.

Jerry Jones wants to help Johnny Manziel get his life together
By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com

March 23, 2016 8:40 am ET

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has long been infatuated with Johnny Manziel, the football player. This was the case in the months and weeks leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft, and that didn't change during Manziel's two, mostly forgettable seasons in Cleveland. But the former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round pick couldn't stay out of trouble off the field and now he's a free agent. In fact, there's the very real chance he doesn't find his way onto an NFL roster in 2016.

On Tuesday, Jones said that even he wasn't interested in signing Manziel, though he'd welcome the chance to help the 23-year-old get his life back on track.

"The overwhelming response and the overwhelming mentality is for him, if we're involved in any way, to help and encourage him to get it together, to get his issue improved because those issues, in my mind, not talent, are why he is free today," Jones said from the NFL owners meetings in Boca Raton, Fla., according to ESPN.com. "It's those issues, and those issues are the overriding consideration here, and how and what basis that those can be dealt with and addressed."

Jones says he hasn't spoken to either Manziel or his new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, though ESPN.com reports that Manziel's name came up late last season as a possible quarterback candidate in Dallas (we've heard variations of this this from others too, including Troy Aikman). That's no longer an option for 2016, but Jones, who has a history of helping players, would do the same for Manziel.

"I would in any way offer to help him work to be where we all are rooting for him to be, which is having a successful life and football career," Jones said. "I would do that. You say, 'Well, is that because of football?' Well, I might not have been aware of this, had it not been for football. I'm aware of it.

"With that, with me, comes a motivation, if it's appropriate within the rules or within the guidelines of the NFL, if we can be of help in the promise of being a part of the NFL through the Cowboys, I certainly look to that. But … I don't even dare, right now, go into picturing him in a training camp or an OTA or him in a ballgame. You don't go there."

Put another way: Manziel has sabotaged his career to such an extent that not even Jerry Jones would risk signing him right now. It's gotten so bad that, last month, Manziel's father said his son won't live to see his 24th birthday unless he gets help.

Unfortunately my friends, the Cowboys lack of activity looking for a veteran backup combined with Jerry saying the Cowboys won't be in the market for a QB at #4 tells me one thing....Jerry is waiting for Manziel to "straighten out his life" so he can sign him up :L

I hope you're wrong. Besides looking at the FA moves made it spells out QB is the target at 4, and talk before the draft is usually smoke and mirrors. Not saying Jerry doesn't want manziel but I don't think the rest of the staff is considering him. We will see soon enough.

Why do you say that? I think it's more the market was way more than we were interested in paying. If we didn't have a starter I would agree with you, but we were in the market for a backup, not a starter. We could get that backup in almost any round.

I'm starting to get pumped about us drafting a QB. We really are putting in a lot of time to go work out these various QBs. I know we try to treat every position group the same and scout all resources in a given draft, but this one just feels different. Heck some drafts Jerrah will flat out say that we aren't even looking at drafting one and won't spend much time or resources to do so. The list of 2016 QBs we've been looking at is not strictly your mid-rounders. From Wentz and Goff, to Dak and Lynch. Basically the who's who of QBs for this draft.

It's weird. Each round (especially the early rounds) I will go into the pick hoping we find the best player available to be something other than QB because of the needs of the team and the talent in the draft. But, when all is said and done, I do want a QB out of this draft and I won't be upset even if it is at #4.

I say that because it seams they are trying to plug every hole except QB, via FAs. Maybe they just didn't see any QBs they liked, I don't know, it's just an opinion, I don't have insiders to lean on.

If we are on the clock in the third round and haven't pulled the trigger I'm going to be nervous. If pick 3 goes by without a QB I just might rip my hair out.

I understand what you'resaying and somewhat agree, but drafting just on position can lead to reaching. A quality QB prospect should be there, but if there is a early run on QBs that prospect will have to wait. I put need right next to BPA but not reach need.

I think the recovery is not the only thing to worry about? How much will it reduce the injury risk 15%-20%?
  • Cowboys HC Jason Garrett expressed belief that QB Tony Romo‘s surgery will reduce future injury risk, but added that it will take couple months for him to fully recover. (Ed Werder)

I just don't want to be left with the picked over talent pool when we get around to drafting a QB. As much work as we are doing combing over potential QBs I'd sure hate to miss out on a couple guys because they didn't drop a few more spots. Just because Jerrah has stated we won't be drafting a QB at #4, I wholly believe that we are gunning for someone in the second round. whether that be our own pick or someone else's. I think everyone in that FO knows how important it is to the future of this team to find the next guy. And sure diamonds can be found late, but that doesn't mean we need to go that route (every time!).
I would have felt different about this if we would have brought in a competent #2 FA QB that would win games for us. The only guy left out there I would want is Fitzpatrick and he will cost a bunch of money.

Where is N5's wife when you need her...

I thought she was a neurosurgeon from what N5 said............... but what the hell a vet will work fine if you need a doctor bad enough. Had a buddy in high school get "corral surgery" when the knife got kicked across his leg when trying castrate a calf. Nasty cut Vet was calm gave him 2 shots sewed him up and told his Dad to take him to the hospital. And the castrating went on with the VET manning the knife with a proper cattle chute. Today the state would try to suspend the Vets license for operating on a human SMH I miss the simple life in rural Kansas from times long ago .............

But that don't have squat to do with football
