Report: Lance Dunbar set to visit 49ers

ugghhh...going to be so disappointed if we let him get away. We have no one like him on the roster right now and were a much better team when he was playing (even if health caused that to not be too often)

Fucking Kelly still trying to take Dallas RB's away from us. I hope Dunbar remembers Murray's year under Kelly.

If the $ was right, our secondary can surely use the upgrade

Falcons free agent LB O’Brien Schofield tells Josina Anderson that while he would love to be back in Atlanta, they “aren’t seeing eye-to-eye” on a new contract.

“I would love to be back in Atlanta,” Schofield said. “Thought I did some good things. We aren’t seeing eye-to-eye on a contract.

According to Anderson, the Dolphins, Cowboys, and Seahawks have all made preliminary inquiries on him.

Vaughn McClure of ESPN previously reported that the Falcons and the reps for Schofield are working together on a new contract. McClure added that Schofield was also generating interest from the Cowboys, Bears, and Titans.

Schofield, 28, wound up following Dan Quinn to Atlanta and signing a one-year contract with the Falcons last year. He’s once again in position to test the open market for the third time in the past four seasons.

In 2015, Schofield appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and recorded 29 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

Not a fan. He really hasn't played well lately but thinks he is a top corner. Matter of fact IMO he has always been overrated and never really was any good other than that year with the Jets after Revis got hurt and he stepped up

He isn't a top corner, but would he still get paid like one, or could he be had on the cheap at this juncture? Also would he be an upgrade to what we have now, which clearly needs depth?

Sheesh, Sanu ends up with Falcons on a 5yr/$32.5M contract. $14M guaranteed. $7M signing bonus.

Too high for us as a #2. seems too high for Atlanta too.

Depth?

David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports that the Cowboys have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with CB Josh Thomas.

Thomas, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. However, he lasted just a few months in Dallas before he was waived and later claimed by the Panthers. After three years in Carolina, he had brief stints with the Seahawks, Jets, Lions, Vikings and Colts before returning to Dallas.

In 2015, Thomas appeared in eight games and recorded four tackles and two pass defenses.

DE Cedric Thornton signing with Dallas is a very solid move. Real good run defender.

The Dallas Cowboys have reworked the contract of DT Tyrone Crawford on Thursday and freed up $4.4 million in cap space, according to David Helman.

Crawford, 26, is in the second year of his six-year, $45.675 million contract that included $17.425 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $6.75 million for the 2016 season.

However, it’s likely that a good portion of this salary will be converted into a signing bonus that will be prorated over the course of the deal.

In 2015, Crawford appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and recorded 36 tackles, five sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 81 interior defensive lineman out of 123 qualifying players.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Cowboys are signing former Eagles DL Cedric Thornton to a contract.

  • Rand Getlin reports that Thornton receives a four-year, $18M deal from the Cowboys.
Dallas brought Thornton in a for a visit on Thursday, so it appears as though they were able to close the deal.

Thornton, 27, signed on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Arkansas back in 2011. He returned to Philadelphia on a one-year restricted contract last year.

In 2015, Thornton appeared in 13 games for the Eagles and recorded 33 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense.

I like the Thorton signing, but he reeks of rotation guy to me. Don't want that to sound like a bad thing because I think it was a good move, but he is going to be more a role player for us. But, I think we all like filling that role of run stopper. Even though DEs in a 3-4 get doubled often against the run and are more similar to a DT than a DE in a 4-3, I do want to see how he holds up at the 1 tech for us before I get too excited.

That being said, this is exactly the type of player I saw us bringing in this year to help out on the DL. Pair him with a guy like Bosa and an improving Lawrence and Gregory and I think our DL could be a lot better. I still want to look at a possible 3 tech to add into the mix too though. Crawford needs to play a lot better than he did last year if this DL is going to improve greatly.
