This makes zero sense.
Foles needs to restructure his contract or else he will be cut.
Why would the Cowboys give up draft assets for a guy who likely will find his way to the unemployment line and why would Foles agree to a contract restructure with a team without testing what is out there in the waters of FA for him?
Edit: Just looked it up. Foles is due a $6M roster bonus on Thursday or Friday. This story is probably just the Ram's leaking a story to see if they can't get a desperate team who actually wants to start Foles to offer up a draft pick by that time. When it likely fails, he will be cut. No team is going to trade for him with that bonus in place IMO if they are planning on him being the backup.
Foles will not be cut. That roster bonus was already guaranteed as part of his extension. He's due his full $8,750,000 for the year. No way they're going to pay him in full to play somewhere else. If someone wants a backup/starting QB with some experience and thinks they can turn him around after a bad season with the Rams, he's available.
idk how serious they are with Mario Williams, but apparently they are reportedly considering a trade with PHI to bring another huge CH with Maxwell. Fins are active early.Looks like the wanna keep Olivier Vernon pretty badly.
If that is the case they obviously aren't going to trade for Foles until the Rams have to suck up the roster bonus on their own dime.
....and after they do that, what is the point of them trading him for a 6th rounder (that is roughly the trade price of a backup QB in this league) or so when their QB position is so shaky?
Wow. Maxwell is like a $13M dead cap hit.
