Maybe the Marlins really like Colin Rea?

It hurts losing Naylor, but we have a lot of young good hitting on the MLB team already.

Desperate move to try and hold onto the playoff spot. Cashner has shown good potential in past years but is a rental and has struggled for a 2nd straight season. Maybe the change of scenery will help, but it was an overpay imo.

And now they will not have Gordon if they make it there.

yanks giving up:suds:

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Nationals are willing to trade Lucas Giolito for Andrew Miller straight up.

Miller has been seen as unlikely to be deal, but this could certainly change things. Giolito's three starts for the Nats have been up and down, but he's still viewed as one of the best pitching prospects in the game and the Yankees would have control of him for many years. Miller is owed $9 million in 2017 and 2018.

Heyman says the Yankees wouldn't do that deal.

Yankees are stupid.

That's one of the best 10 prospects in all of baseball for a freaking RP.

They also should send CC to the Blue Jays ASAP before the Jays sober up....or maybe they missed that window.

The last time Sabathia showed up in Toronto he got in a fight outside a bar and was in rehab two days later.

I don't think there was any substance to that one.

Lucroy held out of Brewers lineup. Likely going to the mets.

padres on a roll :suds:

Braves acquired OF Matt Kemp and cash considerations from the Padres in exchange for OF/3B Hector Olivera.

It's essentially a straight salary dump as the Padres have already designated Olivera for assignment. The Padres have gutted their major league roster by trading away James Shields, Fernando Rodney, Drew Pomeranz, Melvin Upton, Andrew Cashner, Colin Rea and now Kemp. The 31-year-old has had a productive year so far, hitting .262 with 23 HR and 69 RBI. He's been especially hot since the All-Star break, batting .315 in the second half with seven round-trippers in only 54 at-bats. He won't have a great lineup around him in Atlanta but fantasy owners shouldn't be concerned.

Indians are certainly acquiring the talent. Both Lucroy and Miller are great players and should help that team.

This is a better deal than CLE getting Miller.

The price CLE paid for a RP is flat out retarded.

Apparently no one has learned anything from the 2014 Orioles.

in the nonsense news:suds:

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Yankees have acquired Tyler Clippard from the Diamondbacks.

MLB.com's Steve Gilbert says the D'Backs will get Vicente Campos in the deal. The Yanks wanted to get a veteran reliever to help offset the losses of Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller. Clippard is obviously a major downgrade from those two and has allowed seven runs over his last three appearances to push his ERA up to 4.30. However, his ERA was at 2.80 just a couple weeks ago and he's struck out 46 over 37 2/3 innings. He'll work in a setup role ahead of Dellin Betances and is under contract for 2017, as well.

Love what the Yankees did. Weren't going anywhere this year, got some prospects in exchange for relievers, which is always a good thing. With all the overpriced vets coming off the books in the next couple of years, I like where the future is headed.
