Bears trade Khalil Herbert to the Bengals for a 7th.
I said it a while back that if the Bears got anything for Herbert it would be a win for us. Here's a guy who for whatever reasons I have not yet come to understand, has been relegated to riding the pine, plus it's his walk year. The fact that we even got a 7th rounder for him is a plus. But I'm also pretty sure that Herbert is going to do well for Cincy and will have been worth that last round pick, even if he signs elsewhere next season.

Bengals lost Moss so Herbert may have some immediate value.
He has value because he barely has any miles on his body this season.

Just think, if the Bengals win the superbowl, we could get mr Irrelevant next year, even trade for the way they treated Herbert this year.

He's a horrid pass protector and a poor receiver.

He's a good runner, but the difference between him and Roschon as runners isn't substantial enough to warrant him getting the snaps behind Swift. Considering that Roschon is a very good pass protector and solid pass catcher. Roschon is also great situationally, in short yardage.

When would Herbert get snaps, exactly? Swift is easily our most explosive all around back. Roschon is our best guy in short yardage and is solid all around in the other areas.

It makes a ton of sense, to me, at least. This as a guy whose been a big Herbert fan since the day we drafted him. He never developed the other areas of his game. When he's on the field, you know we're likely running the ball. When we don't and he's out there for it - he's a liability.

He makes more sense to Cincinnati. They have a nice young back in Chase Brown, but he's pretty small in size and can't take on the volume he did vs the Raiders for an entire season. With Moss gone for the season, they need someone else to take on some early down carries.

I really wish Herbert the best. He's a very, very nice runner and had some real quality games/performances for us.
