If this is the case (AZ needing to take on cap salary) why not deal the pick for ROR? They can probably squeeze both him and the 10th pick for 3rd because Colorado absolutely needs a d-man in return for him one way or another.

Also wondering if they can get 3rd without giving up the 10th and move that for a cut-price Dion Phaneuf. He'd eventually be a second-pair D behind Barrie/Hanifin and might even work out well with Erik Johnson...

Cap Circumvention rage rising...

Draft intrigue revolves around Coyotes' No. 3 pick - Article - TSN

Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said on Thursday he wasn't going to "go crazy" to jump up five spots in the draft, but the belief is his best offer isn't yet on the table. One offer was believed to include Artem Anisimov, 2013 first-rounder Kerby Rychel and the No. 8 pick. That wouldn't appear to be enough.

RUN AWAY YOU BALD FINNISH BASTARD

I would turn my attention to Dougie at this point. If WPG gets the #3, then Jarmo should send "the package" to BOS for Dougie. If Dougie winds up in the package that nets Boston #3, then make the same offer for him to ARI.

Or work on NJD, and see if they can pry Severson or (God willing) Merrill out of it.

Jackets need to step away from the 3. It's too crazy to do at this point.

Coming away with Hamilton, Severson or Merril > coming away with Provorov or Werenski at this point.

No idea if that could happen, but I think the 10th for Celine would be fantastic.

I rank both Lack and Talbot higher than Lehner. If Lehner got the 21st pick and let the Sens dump a contract Vancouver and NYR could be getting top ten picks here.

thank you for legitimizing a rumour I saw that it was Lack and Bieksa for San Joses #9 pick :thumb:

Colorado is one of those long-rumoured homes for Celine. If they pull something off with AZ, it would make a lot of sense. 10th pick for a $5 million Phaneuf seems fair.
