Before talking to Shero on the phone, Kekalainen had a phone conversation with another team, presumably Toronto, which wanted all three of the Blue Jackets' second-round pick in exchange for moving up from No. 8

That would've given the Leafs 2 first rounders and 3 second rounders. THAT would've been sweet. Oh well.

Mixed emotions. Yes, Hanifin would have been incredible, but I am not sure (with all players healthy for the next few years) that Werenski will be behind him by great lengths. And Bittner may wind up being a steal. Right now I am leaning towards "glad Carolina took Noah/we didn't make the deal".

I guess we'll have to bookmark this and talk about it again in 3 years :D

Good contender for worst trade of the year.

ROR deal is looking pretty bad from Colorado's viewpoint too, and I'm still trying to figure out why the Sabres gave up a first rounder for Robin Lehner, but this was the most inexplicable from the get-go.

That was a Chiarelli trade by the way folks, not a MacT trade in case you were wondering...

Hey!! They got David Legwand too!!::D

Seriously though, that 1st rounder (Colin White) is looking like a homerun for the Sens too. He's putting up one hell of a freshman year. He's been compared to Patrice Bergeron and he's doing nothing to prove that projection wrong.

Lehner is playing really well right now but I still LOVE that trade.

From what I've read, he may be in the same mould as Bergeron but more talented.

I knew from the second it happened this trade was going to be a home run for the Sens. :gaah:

Lehner's had a rough go of it injury-wise and could still put up good numbers in a healthy career, I just still would never have given a god damn mid-first-round pick to a division rival for a goalie.

Well, just like practically everyone who ever had a single rough game there, Seguin was painted with a bad brush by the Boston media.
