It really makes Boras sound like an idiot. "Do the Cubs not want to win?" Umm, Scotty, they have him under control until 2020, and 2021 if they wait 10 days later.

He does a fantastic job of getting the max he can for his clients.

Other than this - which I recognize is his primary business function - he's a totally self-serving prick, IMO.

And your point is 100% dead on. If the shoe was on the other foot, how long do you think Boras would have to think about it before making this decision?

No question it's better for Bryant (and Boras) to reach FA a year earlier. It just amused me how much of a reach Boras was making. And it looks like Epstein has already replied:

“Kris Bryant’s development path has absolutely nothing to do with ownership, period. As with all our baseball decisions, I will determine where Kris begins the 2015 season after consulting with members of our baseball operations staff. Comments from agents, media members and anybody outside our organization will be ignored.”

Love that.

And the score is, Capt Theo 3 and Scott Satan -2.

That may be the best (without saying it), "just shut-the-fuck-up" I've ever read.

Basically, Theo just told Borass to take a flying leap. Good for him.

It's a financial decision by the Cubs but I guess in Boras case financial decisions are a one way street,

No game today, should do some good for anyone needing a day off. I don't need any rest yet, I am in regular season mode already!

Report: Phillies willing to swallow $50 million to trade Ryan Howard

448940.jpg

The Phillies are willing to swallow a "significant sum" -- approximately $50 million of the $60 million -- remaining on first baseman Ryan Howard in order to move him in a trade this season, according to Anthony Castrovince of Sports On Earth.

Howard has struggled at the plate in recent years, and is in search of a pain-free 2015 campaign. The 35-year-old hit .223/.310/.380 with 23 home runs and 95 RBI in 569 at-bats last season. He has a career .265/.355/.526 slash line in 11 seasons. Howard has not hit 30-plus home runs in a season since 2011.

Not interested for the Rangers, but WOW that is a ton of freaking money to eat to get a player
out of town.

"Ruin Tomorrow" is saying just take him for $10 million and we will pay you $50 million. OUCH!

This is kinda what I am afraid the Rangers will face with Prince in the last 2 or 3 years of his contract.

No offense, but I will be glad when you're wrong on this one. I think Prince will hit through his contract, now he won't be at 1B.

Fielder isn't as nearly as worthless, Fielder's contract is bad but pales in comparison to that Howard boondoggle
