Cruz still thinks he's an OF'er.

For the right money I think Cruz would come back even for a DH role but after the year he had I think he'll have quite a few teams wanting his services and plus the fact that we won 65 games last year may not appeal to Nelly.

Cruz was a DH in 89 games this year. Where he isn't a fit with the Rangers for next year is in the budget just like this year.

This from Jamey Newberg:

"Calvin Watkins (ESPN Dallas) reports that, according to a source, the "Rangers [are] allowing their coaches to seek other jobs." The inference is that whoever the club selects as its new manager will be permitted to put together his own staff, which presumably could include returning coaches.

Watkins also cites NJ.com and New York Post reports that Rangers hitting coach Dave Magadan has spoken to Mets and Yankees about their vacancies at that post."

Don't let the door hit you on the way out Dave.

DMN regarding the 2 candidates outside the organization:

Banister, perhaps, represents the most likely alternative. In Pittsburgh the last four seasons, the Houston resident has watched up close for the last four seasons as Hurdle has mentored minor league managers, created a leadership council within the major league clubhouse and asked his own coaches to grade him monthly.

At 36, which would make him the youngest manager in the majors, Cash would seem to be the longest shot among the finalists, but some other assets have helped make him a more serious contender. He played for the organization in 2011 as a catcher at Triple-A Round Rock, then spent the fall doing some advance scouting for the playoffs before going to Cleveland as a coach the last two years.

During the interview process, he wowed Rangers officials with a doctrine on how he would approach managing.

Wash once wowed JD as well so that kind of scares me.
