If the ground ball rate continues to increase he should fair pretty well with the rangers defense behind him. Would like to see K rate tick back up slightly though
7.5 and 50 would probably be a pretty good mix for him

Pitching in a contract year, you would think he would likely have a good year tho season as well.
Now lets see what we had to give up
Nick? + money coming back?
Sardinas+Lu Jack?
Nick+Luke?
if we are going to do something this would not be what i would choose. if you are going trade prospects then get max return. but it seems to be the path chosen by JD and the owners so we make the best of it
Depends on what they parted with, could be a really good move. I don't see the Rangers/JD parting with a whole lot for 1 year and unless Brewers eat significant dollars
if it's minimum + they send a lot of cash with him then okay but none of our top 15

What exactly are you willing to give up then?
Who is our 15th best player in the minors anyway?

Jesus Christ Scotty. You can't ride the fence.

well you are probably right that we give up at least 1 good prospect, i'm just not terribly excited about the move
What fence?
The Rangers are in pursuit of free-agent hurlers Ryan Vogelsong and Kyle Kendrick, reports ESPN's Jim Bowden. now seeing this being reported
I have heard and read a lot of folks who know a lot more about baseball than Evan Grant praise Alfaro for his catching ability so I would not be too concerned about it. Maybe Evan is listening to the same sources that told Fraley Pudge wasn't any good when we let Pudge go several years ago. Some of these writers have a hard time showing any optimism towards prospects.
I remember asking Evan a few years back what Mitch Morleand's chances were of coming up because he was having an outstanding year in AAA. Evan told me it wouldn't be anytime that year or something very similar. Mitch was up about a week later. So take what Evan or Gerry says about youngsters with a grain of salt. On the other hand Evan once embarrassed himself by voting for MY as MVP. These guys are very veteran friendly and very negative about prospects.
He bitches and moans incessantly about the Rangers not making moves, and then when it looks like they're going to make a move to get a solid #3, he's not willing to part with any prospects. You can make trades, or keep your prospects, but not both. He's the kind of guy who wants a solid return for a bunch of junk.
I'm intrigued just depends on what is going back their way... I really hope we just decide to absorb most the contract and send less back (bated breath)
