Lainey....you have positive emotions toward Dempster? Really? Why's that?

First let me state, I LOVE SOTO, always have. The guy is just a super positive player, gives it his all, and always well liked by his team...very loyal.

I know far more Cubs and WSox fans than Ranger fans because of where I live. So I came to like to Dempster before he even played here, like Soto. Both are really fun players....just easy guys to root for.

I realize they aren't great players...doesn't matter. Dempster is freaking hilarious.
Although Soto was ROY, dang....that sucks, (let's get that bat back) but he's still around, making money.

indeed he is

And why is it that St Louis always seems to have a terrific catcher? Swear. Don't remember when their catcher was excellent. Simmons, Matheny, Porter, McCarver, Molina. And who was that great catcher they had who did all the crazy leg movements? Like he was doing yoga behind the plate. Remember him?

THANK YOU. It was making me nuts I couldn't remember his name.

He was so much fun to watch. That stiff leg catching position. Amazing.

One of the most entertaining, and as you said, very talented, catchers I've ever seen. It was a true delight to have watched him.

But going back to my original question: Why have the Cardinals always had good catching? And here we are in age where good catching is damn near non existent, and yet, the friggin Cards have the best in the game. What's up with that?

I suppose they place great value on the importance how their pitching is handled. Their pitching is usually pretty darn good also. Just a guess.
