Key words "betting on." And hope that Profar's bat comes along from what he did this year.

I do think he will develop into a better hitter than his numbers were at 20y/o this year, but doubt he is ever a 30/30 guy.

but if i could get a David Price for a Profar package i'd do it in a heartbeat.

So if we traded Kins for Butler and put Cruz in RF then it goes without saying that we are putting Rios in LF. I saw where 1/3 of his time was in CF and the rest in RF with the exception of 1 game in LF. That could be a tough adjustment but if it can be done we have really bolstered our offense. Add another piece and possibly two and it could be dangerous again.
That's exactly the scenario. Leo and Gentry would play CF.

Price will cost Profar, Odor, Jackson/Perez, and maybe Gallo. No thanks. Pitching is not our weakness. Plus, we already have 3 lefties in the rotation.

doubt it take all that. you never have enough pitching as was seen last season

The biggest problem I see is JD having the balls to trade Ian, a fan favorite. After all of this Nolan/JD crap I doubt he wants to stir up the fans any more than he already has.

His production was down this year at the plate, but is $16M a year that bad of a contract? I think what we are about to see Cano get as well as Pedroia is getting, Ian won't look like his contract is that out of whack for a good 2B.

No, it's not a bad contract for a 2nd that can hit.

then he's not near the man for the job. The focus should be making your ball club better. This town supports winning, Ryan out and below 500 will do more for attendance than a traded fan favorite.

Napoli and Hamilton were fan favorites.

No one is truly pushing for this trade in real life or on this board (I don't think), simply weighing in on the pluses and minuses of said deal, and maybe it should or should not be something the Rangers could or should discuss

okay i can understand that thinking. i just don't think that KC would take on Ian's 4 year $57M with an 5th year option of $10M contract

Kinsler in a down year (2013)
.277 .344 .413 .757 HR-13 Kinsler K'd 59 times
Butler in his down year. (Last season was an outlier for him) (2013)
.289 .374 .412.787 HR-15 Butler K'd 102

So if JD would consider this trade, Butler HAS to return to past form which I assume he does. I'm not thrilled about the idea of the trade of a position player like Kins for a DH

Sure, it sheds payroll....otherwise, meh

i mean the KC franchise is only worth $459M and Ian's contract would worth almost 16.75% of that

They've shown a willingness to spend money in recent years, and for a franchise that took a big leap forward this year, being able to improve one of their biggest weaknesses by spending some money and losing Butler might just be a little appealing

Kinsler (counting his option) is being paid 69 million over the next 5 years and Butler offsets that by about 20.5 million over the next 2 (also counting his option)

Just playing Devil's Advocate

Bloomberg released figures for this season today and they have them worth 540MM.

Did you watch Hamilton quit? The fans were tired of his act. Ryan leaving wont hurt the club IMO
