Was told Choo likes Texas more because of their ability to win faster, but its not worth the price drop
I'm sorta wondering to myself, is trumbo really worth skaggs +? If it were me, I'd keep skaggs over trumbo anyday
The bad with Trumbo is his offense his horrible except HRs but the good news is he is still low cost and reports are that his defense at 1st is much improved. But I am with you. I sure will not miss him against us though.
Damn, how much more a millionaire does he want to be. So much for choosing a team. Was told Choo likes Texas more because of their ability to win faster, but its not worth the price drop
Angels are getting Skaggs and Santiago. Dipoto must have had this one handed to him.
You've got to remember three things though about hoping for rival teams to overpay for the top players:
1). Baseball has no salary cap, so as long as owners are willing to spend like money is no object, overpaying doesn't hurt some teams as much as others.
2). What seems ridiculous to pay a player now might be a little more normal in year 3 or 4 of the deal when all salaries have inflated.
3). The rival team, while overpaying, is still acquiring top talent. So while the Cano/Choo combo might out a financial hurt on the M's in the future, they do no doubt make the M's a tougher divisional opponent for the Rangers in 2014 and 2015.

Also was told that he was familiar with one of the school systems down here and that would have been ideal for him

He ain't worth that. That's more than a lot of better ball players are making. Oh well, on to Cruz.lol i think we're talking about a significant price difference here. Wouldnt be surprised if its over 20 million
You'd think that if Choo liked the team and area that much better, there would be a price the Rangers could meet him at which would sway him to sign for less here. If it's a matter of just a few million between a yes and no, that's where I would hope Simpson and Davis would step in and bump up the budget.

PLZ elaborate on 3). Seems to me they would make a difference or there would be no reason to acquire them. You've got to remember three things though about hoping for rival teams to overpay for the top players:

That's all fine and good. If he really wanted to play here then he can. Financially he will be fine. But if he just wants the money then adios and I can't blame him. On a personal note I have taken less on multiple job offers because I felt better about the overall situation and it worked out for the best in the long run.
