I don't see Engle Beltre getting a 25man roster spot out of camp. If he does ... he's going to go the same route as Julio Borbon did.

If he doesn't get it, another team will own him.

Has to be. Wont clear waivers if he isnt. If anything, I could see him being the 4th OF

Edit: Although it is possible they move Crisp since Gentry is the better defender

Crisp is under contract through 2014 ... thought he was a FA ... so to your point more likely OAK starts Crisp in CF and moves him to LF in late innings over Cespedes. So Gentry is their 4OF as he was for TEX.

I can't tell if we should take this move at face value, or if it was done to set up another move. If you take it at face value it's still a good move. We just stole the A's #2 & #8 prospects for a fourth outfielder. Both of which appear to have the potential to be serious major league players.

I don't feel any different about the line-up after the trade as I did before. We still need 2 bats.
You can't start the year with Martin, EA, Profar, Choice , and Moreland all in the line-up. That's a waste of a good rotation.


I do like the trade however. I just don't know that it helps us immediately.

I agree.

But that said, Gentry will be a terrific addition in that park, playing under their philosophy.
