If he's backing up Soto I'm not as concerned about it. That said, is he or anyone else available really that much of an upgrade over chirinos as a backup, if at all?

Good question and I doubt it for the cost i.e. Salty and Navarro gone.

Just to stir the pot on the hot stove... if things get dire in LAAA and they see in the tea leaves that Trout is destined for Pinstripes....imagine what they could get for Trout! They could probably maybe get someone to take on Hamilton's deal but would get less prospects (the Albertross isn't going anywhere) or they could easily restock their abysmal farm system. I doubt Moreno would consider it since he's got tons of money committed to aging players with a closing window that coincides with Trouts arb years...but crazier things...

Has anyone checked in to see if Chirinos played winter ball? or any further reports, hell...he might be able to get on base 28% of the time, and we don't have to trade anything.

I don't know how he is defensively, so any info, from anyone would be appreciated

He played some last year when AJ was out. Did ok for the time he was in. Probably as good as whats left on the market. Don't know about winter ball.

I don't think he would be a bad backup, but i don't think he's going to turn into anything special either.

23 hr avg for past 3 yrs looks good but terrible 2013 numbers.

He is in Venezuela Winter ball, and that's all I found...no idea how he's been playing
