I'm not as excited about giving up some of our best prospects for 2 years of Price. There's about a 1% chance he signs an extension. I know I wouldn't give Perez up for him. Moreland and Jackson and he's all theirs.

That puts 4 lefties in the rotation, and I'm not sure JD would want to do that.

I'd add Sardinas to that as well, maybe one of the lower level OFers, Brison or another, its going to take quite a bit of cobbling together of talent to make it work without giving up a Profar or a Perez

Last year he hit .303, but that was in only 15 games. But the 2 seasons before he hit .222 and .232, with almost no power. I'm kind of hoping we can get a little better offensive production from whomever we get to work with Soto.
Well after that post, no. Rather have Navarro if he's still on the table.

That's what I mean. I don't want him at that cost. If we can get him for Moreland & Jackson then sure, but anything more than that and I'm not that interested.

Alfaro would have to be included too

trading with the Rays feels like dealing with the devil. Sure, the short-term might benefit you, but in the end it will cost you dearly. Tampa knows what it's doing, especially now they added a scout with expertise in Texas' farm system.

That's just crazy. There's no way I'm including Sardinas, Moreland, Alfaro, and Jackson for 2 years of Price. I don't even like the idea of having 4 lefties in the rotation.

How about Holland and Moreland for Price?

That's risky not knowing how Harrison will respond though.
No. We lost too many well pitched games that were lost due too lack of bats. Get back to fixing that first. Pitching is not our weakness.

seems like that's not their model. TB usually trades for prospects because they're cheaper and under team control for 6 years.

What if they wanted Harry, Moreland, and a prospect?

This is not a knock on Price...but no.
Not exactly "strengthening" your rotation going that route.

Yes, Harrison had injury issues last year (as did Price)... but the overall *net gain* in that trade would be marginal.

Perez would be hard to give up for two good reasons: (1) He looks like he can be really, really good, and (2) He isn't even eligible for arbitration until 2018. So he'll be a money saver, on top of pitching well.

I believe Perez signed a deal in the offseason that has wiped out his arbitration years.
4yrs/12.5M with team options for 2018, 2019, & 2020.

You're exactly right. I completely forgot about this. I stand corrected.

What about moreland, luke jackson, and another above average prospect. Moreland is a very expendable player at this point, and with Price (hopefully his extension) our rotation is basically set for the future
