Why does this not surprise me? The power of money.

Beltran will just use Texas to bump up New York's price, I'm afraid. If we get that involved.

i would expect it would be Luke Jackson, Moreland + 2 low-level prospects. they aren't going to trade Perez

Perez would be hard to give up for two good reasons: (1) He looks like he can be really, really good, and (2) He isn't even eligible for arbitration until 2018. So he'll be a money saver, on top of pitching well.

That makes it hard to move him and I don't really want to. He may be the next Price.

IDK about that because they are two pretty different pitchers. I think perez will be plenty good. Probably end up being our #2 guy, but I doubt he reaches Prices level. Price is a power pitcher who can get away with missing locations on his fastball because its so good. Perez doesn't throw as hard (still good velo, just not Price good) so on the days that he is off with his location he will have to resort to another pitch or two being on for him. He's gonna induce groundballs throughout his career, while Price strikes more people out. Just being devil's advocate here.

I tend to agree.
one could certainly question if Price has lived up to his lofty expectations.
I also think JD values the 4 he has and is looking for another splash with a bat

Greatness comes in different forms. It is a gamble but the kid shows signs of being very good and if he is we'll have him long and cheap. Not sure how many great years are left in Price. Just rambling, I don't know. Looks hard to lose either way,

I am with you on those points plus he is just 22 and he grew by leaps and bounds last year. I think there is much more to come.

Can't see the Rangers entertaining this, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see Seattle go after him. They're desperate for a bat, and it looks like they really want to make some headlines and become relevant on the national stage.

He just isn't worth that imo. Hope you agree JD.

No kidding, JD will have none of that.
I agree with you. It's one thing to ask but another to receive. Not sure he can get it and think it's a little gutsy to contemplate the idea.

What do you guys think of signing Kurt Suzuki? He seems to call a good game and has a decent bat.

We may like him out of necessity. Really don't know that much about him but the choices are not that great.

Last year he hit .303, but that was in only 15 games. But the 2 seasons before he hit .222 and .232, with almost no power. I'm kind of hoping we can get a little better offensive production from whomever we get to work with Soto.

no question JD values Darvish, Holland, Perez and Harrison but adding Price would make it one of the better starting 5's in the AL

I'm not as excited about giving up some of our best prospects for 2 years of Price. There's about a 1% chance he signs an extension. I know I wouldn't give Perez up for him. Moreland and Jackson and he's all theirs.

That puts 4 lefties in the rotation, and I'm not sure JD would want to do that.
