Found it very odd that just before the biggest payday in his life Cano turns to Jay-Z to negotiate for him? Maybe he will hire Miley next to do his taxes?

Frankly, all this type of positioning/behavior/posturing is another indictment to the face of America's landscape.

Miley, Jay Z, look at me crap is not a positive.

Sorry.....political/physiological gibberish just oozes out there from me sometimes.

Of course. That being said if things are close to to equal and he's getting a Mets offer he'll likely weigh on that much more favorably than other places.

Plus Cliff Lee wasn't from here. Granted it wouldn't have made a difference because apparently he absolutely loved it in Philly but he's from Arkansas and that's where he spends his off season supposedly.

Perhaps. If it were me, being closer to family has no appeal whatsoever. hahaha

But you're right, he and his wife loved Philly, and they have a special needs child and Philly was a great city for their child. Who could argue here? Not me!

And his wife has a lot of influence on the family - well she should - and she didn't like it here. Her two problems: (1) Traffic. (2) Heat.............you see those getting better? Me either.

I think the ABSOLUTE MOST I would do is 23 a year. But I'm not deadset on cano either. I think we should just address our needs. I feel like the mindset of getting cano is then followed by some fortunate moving parts that is just too risky at this point. I'd rather just snag choo and let someone else overpay for robby

Well you're talking about a top 10 position player in the game. Best 2nd basemen in the game. 5-7.5 WAR a year. That's elite. It's kinda risky but it would upgrade star power

When i first heard the 300 million dollar asking price i thought he had hired "Ludicrous" and not Jay-Z. Oh its "Ludacris" my bad

Thinking someone will give him 8/185 but we will see

I think you are getting warm for sure.

Let's say he gets $200 mil for 8 for the sake of conversation. If these numbers are close, is this a win for JayZ? He gets 65% of the initial offer. What's y'alls take on that?

I'm pretty much on your line of thinking. One thing I'm not sure has been discussed is Choo is terrible against lhp. So do we insert gentry against rhp?

LF Choo/Gentry
SS Andrus
3b Beltre
1b/dh Fielder
RF Rios
DH/1b Moreland
C Soto
2b Profar
CF Martin/Gentry

I have Moreland in there because this is my lineup if we acquired choo and nobody else. That said, I still think even if we acquire choo jd may acquire a dh bat for us.

Thoughts?

It certainly puts him in the Boras tier money wise, but I have a feeling gms and owners may attempt to teach jayz a thing or two about the business of baseball.

Would anyone do 8 years 200 million Cano?

His agent is a musician who just wants to make a "historic" signing..... Nobody will bite and Jay Z needs to go back to doing what he's good at.

How could it not be a win? That's a lot of loot.

Geez choo has 0 homers against lefties. While having a 1,000 OPS vs right handers. Why???? Has never hit a left gander in his life? How does this happen to people... lol

Choo still posts a .340+ OBP against LHPs, so I think he stays on the field more often than not

I should've checked that myself, but I was too lazy. Plate discipline doesn't care what side of the mound you throw from. I like our lineup with choo in it.

I think if he gets that contract he should take it and run with it, if his ego takes over and he tries to play hardball with teams GM's he may hurt his future dealings with MLB folks. He still makes plenty of money at that price tag
