If our outfield consisted of rios gentry martin and moreland I think thats pretty awful in my opinion.

Awful? We're going to have 2 outta the 3 for sure. How do you feel about those 2? And defensively, with Martin/Rios/Gentry that's a good OF.

I don't see that happening. Jd will get another outfielder.

Exceptional defensive outfield. Needs more thunder though.

Well Rios is fine. And one of the speedsters in center is fine because you need those guys hitting 9 hole and playing center. But you don't need two of those guys. We need someone like Choo or Ellsbury who can actually drive in those speedy guys or set the table on their own. Hitting with runners in scoring position was a HUGE negative for us last year. We let our 9 hole speedy guy get on base and then the leadoff man will see enough pitches to let him snag a bag, but if not still have the potential to hit a gap shot.

We didn't do that last year at all. This is the year we need to sacrifice some defense for hitting. We started that with Prince. But outfield is what I'm talking about. An outfield with Gentry and Martin or Moreland starting is incredibly mediocre to me

Nah, there's something else on the horizon.

Like I said, hope it doesn't happen.

But defensively, with Gentry/Martin/Rios out there; yeah, go ahead and try and take that extra base.

I'm not big on bringing in Jacoby.

Plus, I mean its not like an outfield of Gentry/Martin Choo and Rios is bad anyway. I think thats pretty exceptional

So, Gentry/Martin/Rios is awful, but Choo/Martin/Rios is exceptional. Pretty wild swing in opinion based on a LF.

Me either. Over the past 4 years he's played 18, 158, 74, and 134 games.

I'm a big fan of Choo's and see him helping us in so many different ways.

My gosh that's some horrid numbers. He's a long way from being ML ready.

During the championship game that I watched the announcers were talking about how good he is defensively. He didn't have any problems at all during that one. He looked good, while gunning out 2 runners.

Don't think his issue is throwing out runners, its blocking pitchers

I read what you said, but they didn't have anything bad to say about him defensively besides his footwork when throwing out runners. You can tell he's never needed anyone to teach him because of his arm. I don't think he's as far away as I've heard some people think.

jta quoted 28 pass balls for last season. And it doesn't mention wild pitches, which can sometimes go either way (WP or PB).

There's a lot more to catching than throwing. Just look at Sunny and Pudge.
